the spun-glass Angel Hair that you put on your tree? You would itch for days. Also, remember when you went to look for something under the tree, you would burn yourself on the lights? Glad cool bulbs and Merry lites are available. Ouch!

but why are some people saying things like "this forum is for Ramadan only" etc? I think it's better to post Islamic questions in this forum rather than R&S because we've all seen the stupid responses people give there, especially to Islam related questions. However in the Ramadan forum it's mostly Muslims so we have a better chance of getting good answers rather than stupid immature comments. So does it REALLY matter if we ask non-Ramadan questions here?? I think not.

Imagine you are rich and powerful and can help people at no cost to yourself. One day you find that your neighbor is a poor starving African kid with sad eyes. You find out he hasn't eaten in days. Would it be immoral for you to go next door and tell the kid you love him while refusing to feed him? Would it be immoral of you if you continued to do this every day until the poor kid starved to death?

Why, then, is it okay for religious people to claim that God does this very thing EVERY DAY? They claim God loves that kid and they can see that God, who is supposedly all powerful (and often interested enough in the lives of humans to give preachers fancy cars), refuses to feed the kid. Every day, that kid starves to death thousands of times.

And yet, they call God things like "perfect" and "moral."

Why is it okay if God does it but not okay if I do it?

I try to always receive on the tongue rather than in the hand---I just think it shows the Lord that I know it is him GIVING it to me rather than me TAKING it. I know that the Church does allow to receive in the hand and so I do not put down anyone who does but, I kind of think the baby bird thing with the nest and their head back and mouths open wide is kind of what he had in mind.

I am a Christian. My thermostat is at 65 and It's cold outside- but I am trying to conserve energy. My lightbulbs are the new compact florescent ones, I recycle more than I throw away. I am upset when I see communities growing fast when there are no resources to support them (not enough h2o, etc...) I buy resale when possible to conserve energy and resources. I don't drive a gas guzzler and I consolidate errands into as few trips as possible.

It bugs me when atheists say Christians don't protect the earth.

My family doesn't invite me to any holiday events. Thanksgiving is fun and I love cooking a traditional Thanksgiving meal but it doesn't seem worth doing (or overdoing) in my case with just 2 adults and 4 small children. I'd like to get some ideas on what other people do when they don't have family or friends to spend the holidays with.

At the time of Jesus, Augustus was emporer and he had been named by the Senate circa 40 B.C. as divi filius, son of God (the particular god being Julius Ceasar).

Also, virgin birth as well as demi-gods (half human, half god) were a sesterces a dozen in ancient Rome.

then how does it exist in nature? Something that is a common animal behavior cannot be unnatural.

This is for all those people who say it is not natural.

Doesn't that mean that he created Hell? Why would a loving god created such a horrific place and cast his children into it? Even the parents of serial killers wouldn't purposely hurt their children. Please explain.

Gnostics believe that they have secret knowledge about God, humanity and the rest of the universe of which the general population was unaware. It became one of the three main belief systems within 1st century Christianity, and was noted for four factors by which differed from the two other branches of Christianity:

Novel beliefs about Gods, the Bible and the world which differed from those of other Christian groups.

Tolerance of different religious beliefs within and outside of Gnosticism.

Lack of discrimination against women. Although Jesus treated women as equals, and Paul mostly did the same, the other Christian belief systems started to oppress women in later generations.

A belief that salvation is achieved through relational and experiential knowledge. In the words of The contemporary Gnostic Apostolic Church, humanity needs to be awakened and brought "to a realisation of his true nature.

The Gnostics were not about control.

referring to unmarried women as "public property". They say since there are more women, it's better for them to share a husband than to become "public property".

What? and Why? How is a woman public property if she is unmarried? Being single is not a crime and nothing to be ashamed of and certainly doesn't make one a piece of property.

Please explain what this means and how this conclusion has been reached.

Thanks.
