Arguments in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage, though also very much steeped in justified demands for equality, generally lean towards "gay people love others of the same sex and they can't help it; why should they be denied the right to marry when they can't love any other way?"

What about a bisexual person? They can conceivably "choose" either a straight or gay relationship. Is the fight for same sex marriage theirs too if they love and intend on marrying a person of the same sex? Or is the fight only for people who "can't help it"?

A Muslim has faith that Mohammad told the truth about his visions, etc..

A Mormon has faith that Joseph Smith told the truth.

A Jehovah's Witness has faith that they are part of the 144,000 that will be saved

A Christian has faith that their 'relationship' with Jesus is real, and not imaginary - plus they have faith that the people who put the Canon of Scripture together were trustworthy...

Which group has the strongest faith? Does it matter? Can all these different groups have faith in things and those things all be correct?

What if someone has faith that the Earth is flat... Are they wrong? Is their faith based on something wrong?

Should people who have wrong beliefs be compelled to change them?

How do you know your faith is correct?

Do you care?

Is it religion, politics or a mixture of both that's causing so much upset? I know it's a very deep subject & close to a lot of peoples' heart, but it's a worry sometimes, isn't it? Why do peple fall out so much over religious stuff?
Haven't heard the Pope or Rowan Williams saying much lately. The Israel/Palestine situation seems to have gone quiet (thankfully) Mind you. I thought that was more about territory than religion these days.
What's your take on all this religion stuff? Seems like it causes more harm than good sometimes, but how is it affecting the world we're living in now?

What do you think happens when a person does this? Do you really think God makes them go to hell for this?

The Lord brings the verses in the Messiah to my mind *all* the time. In fact, when my husband and I are reading the Bible together at night, I often sing some of the lines from it as he's reading if the line is contained from the passage we're reading. (I know, I know, annoying). He has used this so much to help me hide scripture in my heart.

Anyone else love it like I do? Okay, more like obsessed with it? ;) If so, do you have other recommendations for musical pieces like The Messiah? :)

If someone asks a question about the way Christians think, don't you think it would be better answered by Christians?
If someone asks a question about the way Atheists think, don't you think it would be better answered by Atheists?
Why answer a question that you don't know anything about?
Alot of the answers from Atheists on this question were just downright wrong and did not reflect the way I think as a Christian:

What now?
In stead of 8 violation notices, I had 8 "best answers" EXCEPT that Yahoo had posted 4 of them TWICE and after checking my points, I realized that Yahoo has made an error in MY favor. I received 10 points on same questions 2 times.
Here's the delimna.Should I inform Yahoo of the excess points they gave me and return them or just keep them and Thank God?
I mean it's not like its money?
What would you do?

LEONARD COHEN LYRICS

"In My Secret Life"

I saw you this morning.
You were moving so fast.
Can’t seem to loosen my grip
On the past.
And I miss you so much.
There’s no one in sight.
And we’re still making love
In My Secret Life.

I smile when I’m angry.
I cheat and I lie.
I do what I have to do
To get by.
But I know what is wrong,
And I know what is right.
And I’d die for the truth
In My Secret Life.

Hold on, hold on, my brother.
My sister, hold on tight.
I finally got my orders.
I’ll be marching through the morning,
Marching through the night,
Moving cross the borders
Of My Secret Life.

Looked through the paper.
Makes you want to cry.
Nobody cares if the people
Live or die.
And the dealer wants you thinking
That it’s either black or white.
Thank G-d it’s not that simple
In My Secret Life.

I bite my lip.
I buy what I’m told:
From the latest hit,
To the wisdom of old.
But I’m always alone.
And my heart is like ice.
And it’s crowded and cold
In My Secret Life.

This year is my first year in my own apartment, I bought a pink tree, and will have pink purple and silver decorations on it. Just to be different.

In September 1993, Brenda Pratt Shafer, a registered nurse with thirteen years of experience, was assigned by her nursing agency to an abortion clinic. Since Nurse Shafer considered herself "very pro-choice," she didn't think this assignment would be a problem. She was wrong. This is what Nurse Shafer saw:

"I stood at the doctor's side and watched him perform a partial-birth abortion on a woman who was six months pregnant. The baby's heartbeat was clearly visible on the ultrasound screen. The doctor delivered the baby's body and arms, everything but his little head. The baby's body was moving. His little fingers were clasping together. He was kicking his feet. The doctor took a pair of scissors and inserted them into the back of the baby's head, and the baby's arms jerked out in a flinch, a startle reaction, like a baby does when he thinks that he might fall. Then the doctor opened the scissors up. Then he stuck the high-powered suction tube into the hole and sucked the baby's

email each other? If one of them threatens to commit suicide could it be considered a hostage situation? If one of them has a baby are the other personalities technically aunts or uncles?

Can you imagine what its like if all the personalities are back seat drivers? How would they decide who drives?

If one of the personalities beats up on another one, could an assault charge be filed?

Just off the top of my head with this, I am sure there are more considerations and problems - do you know any? FYI this IS a joke.

in romans 3:23-25, the bible mentions that we have all fallen short of the glory of god because we are all sinners. and because of that good deeds alone will not get a person into heaven. in other words it doesn't matter how good of a life you lived, you're no better than a person who has lived the most sinful life in the eyes of god. given this, isn't it also fair to say that no man is any smarter than any other man on the planet, when compared to the knowledge god posesses? and to go one step further, are we any smarter than monkeys when compared to all that god knows? i don't care what the bible says, i'm smarter than a chimp, and i'm better than a serial killing, drug dealing, rapist. if you can't see that, you really are blind.

I tried religion and nothing. I tried the ouija and spiritulism and yes you guessed it, nothing. I"m studying astrology and at least there is some evidence there, although not completley.

If there was something after this life or some truth in anything don"t you think we all would know, or is it something we can never imagine, or nothing at all?
