Well, his previous job WAS Grand Inquisit-- er, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. (We don't use the I-word anymore.) Cardinal Biggles will attest.

Oh, and he still wears the bright red shoes!

Fanatical potential possessed with or inspired by severe, irrational zeal. i'd not "be shocked to hearken to that maximum Catholics have a fanatical devotion to the pope" in this communicate board because some human beings go with to inform all styles of lies the following. yet when we communicate the reality, then i keep in mind that very just about all Catholics have a in simple terms rational devotion to our maximum senior pastor, the direct successor of Simon Peter. With love in Christ.

The Pope really does not have any followers.

He is simply the leading follower of the followers of Jesus Christ and chosen for his role by the Holy Spirit. He is also called the servant of the servants of Christ.

Fanatical means possessed with or motivated by excessive, irrational zeal.

Catholics, as a rule, are not irrational. We believe in faith and reason.

Human reason is the spark of the divine within us. It is our capacity to know the truth of things.

One thing that make us human is our ability to think our way through to convictions (or strong beliefs). So reason and faith cannot be in conflict.

True faith
+ Is reasonable faith
+ Makes sense
+ Can be proposed as reasonable to others

With love in Christ.

I would consider it more of a beloved devotion.

The Pope is beloved by millions around the world. He may have a lot of detractors here in the secularist society of the United States, but even here he has followers.

I'm reading his book "Jesus of Nazareth" right now. Our Pope is a very intelligent and learned man, and has written many books on God and theology.
