My only theme is, if I like it, it goes on my tree. I usually use an artificial tree because my dog wags his tail near it and knocks all the needles off and he thinks he can lift his leg on a real tree.

I like a traditional tree. We have an artificial pre-lit tree with multi-colored lights. I'd love to use a real tree but my husband is alergic to them.
I use bunches of red, green, gold and silver ornaments on the tree. Many of them are musical instruments. Also, gold and silver garlands. Not the tinsel type ones...ours have beads and stars and tiny musical instruments. On top, I put an angel some years and an old fashioned St. Nick other years. Whichever one I don't use on the tree top, I set on a table somewhere in the living room.
I think the pink, purple and silver decorations will be beautiful!

We use an artificial tree and decorate with blue and silver ornaments, angel on top. We do have a lot of ornaments but we may not have so many after this Christmas because my baby will be 17 mos then and I have a feeling some ornaments won't survive, lol. We also put up several Nativity scenes to remember the Reason for the Season. Your tree sounds like something I would do if hubby would have gone for it ; )

Yes, I usually have a color or style theme - last year I did purple, green and gold with the cheeky, modern oversized ornaments and lights. This year I am going traditional with red and green with maybe some metallic...always with a big star on top! :-)It's going to match my living room better.
It's your first apartment - Congratulations! I think your theme is great, as long as you make your tree the way you want it and whenever you look at it, it makes you happy and excited about the holiday season - than it's perfect!

I have a fake tree but i was very picky when i bought it! i wanted something that looked really nice and not Charlie Brown like. My tree is all bulbs dark red, gold, brown and maron. different sizes and shapes, some glitter, some shiny, some matte finished. I have a big gold star at the top and a 3 large wise men figures that i put infront of the presents at the bottom.

we use a real 9-10 ft tree. there's really no rhyme or reason to the decorations. there's ornaments that i got when i was a child...ornaments that were my grandparents and my great grandparents...ornaments that were given to my children...and ornaments i bought just because i thought they were pretty. we use multi-color lights that are sound activated. pretty christmas morning dancing to the music.
several years ago before my children were born we did a do red and white tree for a couple of years. it was absolutely beautiful!

At my mom's, we have a fake tree, and decorate it to match the colors in our living room, which are silver and purple. Kinda like yours!
At my dad's we get a real tree, and decorate it with handmade/misc. ornaments and multi-colored lights. A plethora of festive goodness!

I have two trees in my house every year. The one in the living room is traditional - hundreds of lights and lots of ornaments. The one in the dining room is a candy tree. It's an artificial tree decorated with peppermint lights, candy ornaments, candy canes and candy garland. I add ornaments to my collection every year.

every year my mom thinks of something different...we have the main (fake) tree in the living room and then we have smaller ones (all fake) in every other room. and it depends on how that room is decorated. the one in the kitchen had tiny pots and pans ornaments on it...the one in the bathroom (wierd huh) had rustic looking stars on it because our bathroom is stars...and on we had little plastic looking ones with elves on it just because we thought they were cute. but when we decorate the big tree we usually go by color. last year my brother wanted to do the multi-colored blinking light and very bright colored ornaments...and of course they dont always match because over the years you get so many...and i like to do the simple but elegant look with the white lights and the gold ornaments...i think its really pretty either way though because it's something we do as a family and we put our own spin on it every year...
