If Jesus had come later and was beheaded via guillotine, would Christians have those hanging on the wall or over doors or on alters in churches? What if he was hanged? Would they be wearing nooses around their necks? If he was burned at the stake, would they pin matches to their lapels?
Why is the Christian faith usually, not always, symbolized by a death icon when it is the life after he rose that is to be the important part?
It's not that he died that gives humanity hope, it is that he rose from the dead and lived on. Why then are Christians fixated on his death and not his resurrection?
I know someone is going to tell me how it symbolizes his death for our sins... blah blah blah. Anyone can die. It takes more to rise from the dead. That is the miracle.

On their website I found a table of results from 2005

http://www.watchtower.org/statistics/worldwide_report.htm

How many Witnesses for each country, number of hours preached, number of people baptized etc number of people attending memorial

What's the deal? Do they compare each year's Key Performance Indicators with the previous years as a way of measuring their progress? I don't know any other denomination which does this, so I am interested to know what the Jehovah's Witnesses on this Answers! Forum has to say.

Serious answers only please.

A question posted today by denise m was to do with anyone saying a word or phrase unintentionally upsetting someone....it appears an expression used by us in response to izzy k's question has been taken the wrong way so.......in which country do you all reside n what does the expression "getting your knickers in a twist" mean to you? (Where we live in the Uk it is said in fun not malicious)

I'm probably in DEEP trouble for asking this now but I'm going to anyway.. I'm not angry with God or anything I just need to clarify some stuff.

Regarding the Ten Commandments.. I have seen them, and they are indeed very honourable commands to live by. To live a righteous life in God's eyes you must obey the Ten Commandments.

But there is no mention of anything like raping, torturing or anything along those lines. Two commands about stealing but no command 'thou shalt not torture' or anything like that..

Let me tell you I would much rather someone STOLE something from me than TORTURED me!!

Plus.. according to the Bush admin it is now OK to torture suspects for the purposes of extracting confessions. So is torture even considered a crime by anyone now?!? If it is LEGAL, and there is no mention of it in God's commands, does this mean it is OK??

I don't have enough space to make my point fully but I am so confused.. it doesn't make any sense.. do you see what I mean??

After all not only are you spilling your seed, but you're having a lustful dream, and probably fornicating in that dream as well.

I live in a duplex in the bay area. My next door neighbor has now tapes my wind chimes twice. Last night I posted a note at my door please do not tape my wind chimes. The last two renters never said anything about my wind chimes. I have been here 3 years now with no problems until now. I never complainted about the loud parties, all people coming and going all night.

my father is love and he is wisdom .Without him you dont know love or wisdom. their feeble wordly knowledge is what is gonna do them in at judgement day. on that day they won't be able to flash their degrees, theories or hypothesis. it will be as simple as "depart from me, i never knew you."
