I classify myself as a "soft determinist"

the first basis, is that we HAVE choices


BUT at any point you make a choice, that choice is a function of;
A:cognitions, your thoughts on the outcome of the choice.
B:your past experience, up until you make that choice
C:possible choices...(walk to the store, drive, take a cab, obviously you can't pull a "superman" and light a fart to fly there)

given the same life experince, and state of mind, your brain will make a defined choice...just like a difference engine on a computer...

I think this answer is yes and no.
the free will is not totally free; it is within the framework of an individual's understanding, which is determined by biochemistry, brain patterns, life experience.
