Do you know if when someone is reciting the Qur'an that animals would stop what they're doing and listen to it, or not, or is just a selected number of animals?

I am going through the toughest time in my life right now and I have been praying a lot. Then it occurred to me that maybe some of you would pray for me to.
I can't go into details right now. I'm sorry. I'm not trying to be sneaky about anything. It just involves some things I don't want people to know yet. Could I just call it an unspoken prayer request?
I'm praying for direction, forgiveness and relief from emotional pain.
Also, if you have a prayer request...let me know. I pray frequently and would be glad to include it.

what if you're wrong in your beliefs about God and about His Will, would you take responsibility of the person's soul when that person dies?

my point in asking this question is, why can't you just allow a person to do his/her own search for God? that person will find God if he/she really search for Him, isn't that what God Himself promised --- "seek and you shall find"? don't you think God can make those people seeking for Him find Him? or do you doubt God's words?

I am asking this question so that I can at least try to understand your way of thinking why you feel the need to convert other people when there's a possibility that you could be wrong too.

We work in Kuwait and there is an argument about sex and Ramadan. I contend that a Moslem couple can have sex only after dark i.e. between sundown and sun-up. He maintains that they cannot have sex during the whole of the month. Who's right?

And do you have a link to a good translator online for your language? (The link is for one that does Swedish-english and a few others) http://lexin.nada.kth.se/sve-eng.html

In Sweden we say: "Ett kärt barn har många namn" = A loved child has many names

Here's a few in Swedish that are used a lot

Lilla hjärtat (Little heart)

Gullesnutt (Cutiepie)

älskling (darling)

Thanx for sharing and have a great day :)

To my fellow brilliant humans,

What are your best ideas for fostering unity with others, despite our different beliefs? What can we do to accept and respect others' beliefs while staying true to our own?

There are now supposedly over 22,000 sects of Protestantism alone, and many of these have multiple layers of sects within them, as well. Humanity has a natural tendency to form groups and differentiate from other groups like this - and diversity of belief is a wonderful thing - but not when it leads us to attack each other.

So I'm asking you - what conscious decisions and actions can we offer to foster acceptance and respect?

After all, our most basic beliefs and ideals - to be kind, do unto others..., to love one another - are essentially the same across all belief systems. Ironically, it is in defense of our own beliefs that we lose those most fundamental ideals!

I look forward to your ideas!
.

They automatically point you to 'lds.org' or whatever.

Heah mormons, if you want to study your own faith, you have to read about it from a non-biased point of view. Like the planet Kolob. Aliens/ascended beings mating with humans. Come on, folks, is this for real??

If so, what is money? social acceptance? the need to be loved? the need to love? what is all that? Arent they crutches too?

Do you think as a human being, you could EVER be free of crutches?

Why dont you just accept the fact that you cant...and then chose to crutch on something that isnt fleeting?

I am a maid at the wedding which was to take place in 3 days time. Her fiance is the one who called one of us (the maids) to say the wedding has been cancelled. Herself she hasn't said anything. Should I call or wait? Doesn't she owe us an explanation?

I would define the difference as:

Questioning:

Step 1 - You ask: "Does God exist?"
Step 2 - You look at all available facts
Step 3 - Analyze the facts without bias, without fear, without outside influence... without caring about the outcome of the answer (the best answer is the best answer... and that is all that matters)
Step 4 - You pick the best answer using logic, and based on the facts. You are done.

Rationalizing:

Step 1 - You ask: "Does God exist?"
Step 2 - You fear that he might not exist, and you take in evidence from every possible place, including science to see if he does or not
Step 3 - You look at some scientific stuff but something feels wrong. You turn and look deeper into the bible, seek counsel from pastors, priests, friends, family, etcetera.
Step 4 - You find a passage or someone tells you something that makes sense to you
Step 5 - You accept the passage or the knowledge passed to you as best answer, and you feel a sense of relief.

Anyone ever notice how "God" has such an authoritative sound to it. I mean, different languages use different names. I just think the English one could sound a little nicer, or like a little more approachable. Anyone know what I mean? I don't mean any disrespect, it's just an observation. You think they made the name "God" because it does give that sense of disipline just in the sound of it, and maybe an tinge of fear?
