what if you're wrong in your beliefs about God and about His Will, would you take responsibility of the person's soul when that person dies?
my point in asking this question is, why can't you just allow a person to do his/her own search for God? that person will find God if he/she really search for Him, isn't that what God Himself promised --- "seek and you shall find"? don't you think God can make those people seeking for Him find Him? or do you doubt God's words?
I am asking this question so that I can at least try to understand your way of thinking why you feel the need to convert other people when there's a possibility that you could be wrong too.

Why should I witness?" Several reasons should come to mind. First, because Jesus commands you to: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit," (Matt. 28:19). Also, Ezek. 3:11 says, "and go to the exiles, to the sons of your people, and speak to them and tell them, whether they listen or not..."
Second, you must witness because you love the unsaved (if you don't, you should). The most loving thing you can do is present the gospel in hopes of bringing others to salvation. Galatians 5:22 lists love as one of the fruit of the Spirit. It is love's nature to give. Take for example John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son..." Love gives, and if you have only a small portion of His love, you will want to give to others.
Third, witness because it is a wise thing to do. Prov. 11:30 says, "...he who is wise wins souls." Now, I know I am not a very wise person. But, since God says I'll be wise to win souls, or try to, then great, let me at it. I want to be wise in God's sight.
Fourth, witness to keep people out of hell. Hell is a terrifying place of utter anguish and eternal separation from God. Those who are not saved go there. Witnessing is an attempt to keep them out of hell.
Fifth, witness because it pleases God and brings glory to His name.
And finally, witness so they may find the love and fellowship of God (1 John 1:3), the greatest of all treasures. I can think of no greater gift than salvation. It frees the sinner from sin, it delivers the lost from damnation, and it reveals the true and living God to those who don't know Him.
The angels of heaven rejoice greatly when anyone passes from judgment into salvation (Luke 15:10). Shouldn't we as Christians rejoice too? Shouldn't we weep over the lost? Shouldn't we ask the Lord of the field to send laborers into His harvest (Luke 10:2)? Certainly! The salvation of others is the goal of your efforts. The love of God is your motive. Is there anything greater? So, give.

Because Jesus told us to.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." -Matthew 28:19
The "what if youre wrong?" question is something EVERYONE has to face in their life given their worldview and how they act on it, not just Christians. We could very well ask you the same question but that doesnt solve anything does it.
Because if we leave people alone, we are...
A. Violating a mandate from Jesus.
B. Advocating spiritual indifference.
C. Proving that we just dont care about others.
Why do you feel the need to try to silence those you disagree with? Theres a possibility you could be wrong as well!

Hi Velvet,
Fundamentalists follow the fundamental teachings of the Bible without adding man's ideology. This means that they should read, study, and obey what is written in the Bible and the Bible ONLY. Matthew 28:18-20 is probably CHRISTS last words to HIS Disciples. There, He says, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." This is the reason that a true Christian does his/her best to reach out, teach, and convert the lost to GOD'S WORD. Have a wonderful week.
Thank YOU,

We read in God's Holy Law Book the Bible: ... Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.* ... And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.*
The Bible teaches that at the end of the world all the wicked will come under eternal punishment in a place called Hell, and this time may be very near. There is much Biblical evidence that points to the fall of 2011 as the end of the world.

I am not speaking as a Bible fundamentalist here, but rather as a person that has often been targeted for "conversion" by them. For many of them the reason they feel the need to convert is simply that if they are NOT right, that would mean that they are unnecessarily missing out on things that other people enjoy because we do NOT think it is sinful. Others feel that because they have the "truth" that others need to be SHOWN it because we are too STUPID to find our truth for ourselves. This happens frequently when the person they are trying to convert happens (like me) to have NON-Christian beliefs.

This question get asked almost everyday. If you really believed what you say, then why are YOU here telling us what to do and/or believe? A little hypocritical, perhaps?
Christians try to convert people because Jesus commanded his followers to go out and teach the entire world the teachings of Jesus. It is the last command that he gave.
One cannot be a Christian if he disobeys the command of Christ, so we do what we are told.
If we thought that Christ was wrong, or if we still had serious doubts about Jesus being God, then I doubt that any of us would be trying to "convert" anyone, as we wouldn't feel all that sure about it ourselves (we would still be trying to convert ourselves).
The ones who try the hardest are the ones who are the most convinced that Christianity is true, obviously, or else they wouldn't be trying.
You may think that they are wrong, but obviously they do not.
===edit==
What IF I am NOT wrong? If I honestly thought that I was wrong, then I would not be here, and probably neither would any other Christian. I thought that I made that clear.
I simply meant to point out that if you thought that YOU were wrong, then you would not be trying to convince others of your point of view, either, so it seemed like a silly question to ask other people if they think that they MIGHT be wrong without giving them a specific reason to doubt themselves. It sounds like you are questioning our honesty, or our sincerity, or our motives, or something like that. You question itself sounded judgemental to me.
Sorry if it sounded judgemental of you, but you said that you were trying "to understand your way of thinking why you feel the need to convert other people", so I answered.
===edit2===
Sorry again if this is beginning to sound like a rant, but I am tired of atheists implying that religious people never "think" about their own religion. Yes, we do ask ourselves the exact same questions that you do. Just because our conclusions are different than yours, or just because we disagree with you, doesn't mean that we are stupid, or dishonest, or brainwashed, or we simply aren't human with the same doubts and fears as all other people (including you). Yes we do "consider the possibility" everyday. Skeptics force us to think about this stuff all of the time, whether we want to or not.
As to your other question, would I take responsibility for another person's soul IF I WERE WRONG, then yes, I think that I already have.
I would not ask someone else to do something that I haven't done myself already.

"Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. When I say to the wicked, 'O wicked man, you will surely die,' and you do not speak out to dissuade him from his ways, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. But if you do warn the wicked man to turn from his ways and he does not do so, he will die for his sin, but you will have saved yourself."

First of all because God commands us in the Bible to preach the gospel to everyone. It is part of our system of belief. Second because God's way for people to come to find Him is the preaching of the Gospel. So while they are searching, we are preaching. Seriously, if you really believed what God says in His Word that eternal life is only through Jesus Christ, and faith in Him, and that anyone who does not accept that will be in hell for eternity, wouldn't you want to tell those whom you love and care about before it is too late for them?

We how teach and preach the Living Word of God (Jesus Christ), "will" answer for any false teaching we give to people, the Bible plainly teaches us that.
It would be well for those who claim to be teachers and preachers to remember that we are also taught that "not many, should be teachers and preachers" for this same reason.
"seek and ye shall find" could very easly mean "I will send you a Preacher to teach you".
People today put far too little importance on preachers and teachers of the "Word"
And some preachers and teachers put far too much importance on themselves.
