Mark 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the
poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. KJV
Instead of telling the ruler to get rich, he told the man to get
"unrich". Instead of asking the man to give to him to be blessed, he told him to give to the poor to be blessed. Instead of allowing the man to join him because of his fame, money
power, and prestige, he told the man to deny all of that first, and then come after him! Instead of telling this man that if he gives a portion of his riches to the church he would be blessed and highly favored, Jesus didn't ask him for anything for the church because his possesions weren't important, his soul was! Jesus did not tell him it was his season and he was about to walk into his destiny, favor, and breathrough. Jesus made no promises to him but rather just tested his love for him.
