They are not the same. Jesus came to free us from Yahweh. Unfortunatly all those books got cut by the editors in 325.

Jesus was with his Father Yahweh in the heavens and was probably a helper during many of the events of the OT which has so many disturbed because of the severity displayed toward wrong doers. I don't think there was ever an instance where the sinner was tortured. They were just killed out right.

The people he destroyed had really bad heart conditions. For instance, Sodom and Gomorrah, even after being blinded the perverts were in a frenzy still trying to get into Lot's house to attack the angels. And before the flood, Yahweh said he felt regret that he had made man because their thoughts were about bad all the time. Yahweh was sad, and felt hurt at his heart himself because his creations were so bad. Only Noah was righteous. His family survived also, but they may not have been as holy as Noah.

Some that claim to be Christian believe that God and Jesus are the same person, but the bible does not teach that, another instance of disrespect for the Creator Yahweh. As another person said, I would think twice before taking the name of the true God in vain. You better be careful today. I had a brother in law that did something like that, he wound up committing suicide.

I personally believe that when we read the OT (Jewish Scripture) there are many times when something inside us says, "Wow--do I really want to follow/worship a God who acts like this?"

Conversely, when we read the teachings and narrative about Jesus, (at least I know this is true for me) that same internal "voice" recognizes his words and actions as true and good.

Can we not have one without the other, though? I have begun to believe that to take the whole Bible as 100% fact based on being told that I must by someone else is to neglect the reason that God himself gave me.

A lesson from 9/11--not everyone who claims to do something in God's name or to know what God is thinking does. Even if stories about them or their writings made it into the Bible, these people were human, and interpreted everything through their own personal "lens." Use your God-given intellect, and find out for yourself what is true and beautiful in the Bible (both Old and New Testament) and follow those teachings.

If we all lived according to the OT, would the world be a better place? Or, would it be living according to the peaceful and loving teaching of Jesus that would make bring about the Kingdom of God?

You were created by God with a brain that is just as good as anyone else's--seek the truth for yourself. You have the right to use your reason and decide what you believe!

They are NOT the same.
YaHWeH [ YHWH...Jehovah] is Almighty God, the Father of Jesus, the one to whom Jesus prayed.
It is unwise to make derogatory remarks about the creator of the universe.
(Matthew 12:31-32) “On this account I say to YOU, Every sort of sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the spirit will not be forgiven. 32 For example, whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the holy spirit, it will not be forgiven him, no, not in this system of things nor in that to come.
