The reason that people ask Christians to prove God is because Christians ask non-Christians to accept their way of life. People are reluctant to change their lives for no reason. Therefore, they ask for proof that the Christian God, the reason for the religion, exists.

Well I have to say that i am a recent finder of faith and here is what i can tell you: If a person is raised to not believe in god or a higher power then it is very hard for them to have faith or believe in something they can't see or touch. I am a scientist and most of the time we look for proof. If you can't prove it it must not exist. I have realized that this is as far from the truth as it gets. There are phenomenon in this world that science can never explain. I accept now that there are higher powers out there. I would not say I am christian or associate myself with a specific religious group but I am very spiritual now. Those who need proof (like i was) are those who have not found faith yet. That is all. They may never find it. You have to want to believe in order to get your proof I think.

This tired old subject comes up several times a week here and, in general, everybody misses the boat. The point is, the word "Proof" implies that something has been demonstrated over and over again through observable, tangible results. The scientific method uses demonstrations that are observable in the natural world through the five physical senses or instruments that inhance them. Faith in the supernatural and Proving something scientifically are entirely different ways of thinking. Belief in God or anything supernatural is philosophy. Demonstrated repeatable proof is science. You can't mix apples and oranges. Divine communication is only proof to the person who believes he has had it. If he wrote it down in a book it is only proof to those who believe him. Can't we just lay this to rest?

If we were weak and insecure, we wouldn't be the ones going around trying to get others to join our belief system. There are no "non-believer" missionaries trying to convert you. And not every non believer makes fun or discriminates, you've had run ins with those that do. You say we're making fun/discriminating... what's in the last line of your question?
"...you're the one that's weak and insecure, not us." - if that isn't a stereotype statement from an insecure person to put down the very people he/she iss asking - I don't know what is

Right. The point is that you and every other religion all say that you are the one true way (well some other religions claim that all are the path or some mixture of the two). If you have no evidence for your book as being true then it is most likely fiction, and while fiction is fun I don't want to rule my life by it.
The major problem that we have with "you" is that you continually try to legislate your morality i.e. make what you think is right and wrong a law for everybody. Another problem is trying to teach Creation or ID in public schools as science.
Then there is if you saw a group of people trying to live their lives as if they were wizards in Harry Potter, wouldn't you want to give them a reality check?

I like how you ask us questions, but you've blocked my other account. Lol. If you want to hear from atheists, then why block the response? Never mind, you probably just don't like me in particular.
Anyhoo-I haven't asked any christian to prove god, because you can't. I'm sorry all of your faith is bound up in a 2000 year old book full of stories. If you want to insult us, please find a more appropriate way to do so. Saying we are weak and insecure by pointing out the fallacies in your faith is just a knee-jerk reaction from you because you aren't used to being questioned about the validity of your beliefs. Simply because it is so easy to poke holes in your religion does not make us insecure my dear.

Materialists of today are proud of their natural instincts and bondage. We must respect that. However, consider, they state that nothing is entitled to belief and acceptance except that which is sensible or tangible. By their own statements they are captives of nature, unconscious of the spiritual world, uninformed of the divine Kingdom and unaware of heavenly bestowals. If this be a virtue the animal has attained it to a superlative degree, for the animal is absolutely ignorant of the realm of spirit and out of touch with the inner world of conscious realization. The animal would agree with the materialist in denying the existence of that which transcends the senses. If we admit that being limited to the plane of the senses is a virtue the animal is indeed more virtuous than man, for it is entirely bereft of that which lies beyond, absolutely oblivious of the kingdom of God and its traces whereas God has deposited within the human creature an illimitable power by which he can rule the world of nature.

You know, don't think you have to prove to anyone your faith. For ANY religion, I am a Muslim, and I know there are people out there that don't believe in what I believe, but that is ok, as long as I believe. Like the Buddhists, they believe in something totally different, maybe there was a Buddha, maybe there wasn't, I am not going to say "I don't believe in it", because THEY believe it. And that is all that matters.
Peace of mind through faith is wondrous, despite your religion, culture, sex, and beliefs. Whatever your belief system is, is your own, your way of getting through life the best way. If you really look, ALL religions teach the same thing, and that is peace, love, and compassion.... And that is my religion as well.....
"Let there be no compulsion in religion": (Qur'an 2:256)

We ask you to prove god because thanks to george bushes belief in God both America and Britain went into Iraq (george bush claimed god told him to in a dream) this is just one example of the dangers of a religion- the opposition it provides to reason. Religion is fine so long as you on't take it too seriously and regard it as a theory not a definate truth of which every word is to be believed. Furthermore i NEVER start a debate on god i find christians constantly challenge ME on my disbelief. Finally- the fact that so many people believe somthing that i find about as realistic as the easter bunny is intesting to say the least- i want to understand.Being insecure has nothing to do with it!!

I think if you were to really look at all the "Prove God exist" posts, you would see that they were in response to "questions" which are sermons on how evil non-believers are for not believing in God, or a "question" such as "Don't you know you're going to hell" ? etc.
If you want to believe in God on faith alone, that's fine, that's your right, but honestly, what do you expect people how do you expect people to respond to personal attacks, name calling, and threats of damnation ? Do you think they are going to hand you a bouquet of roses ?

No offense, but the burden of proof is on the believer. Non believers ask you to 'prove' the existence of God, because they know you cant. Its an effort to get you to (at the very least) be a little objective about your views.
I agree that its counter productive to insult and ridicule your religion, and it certainly wont change your views. But when you post and accuse us of being weak and insecure, your pretty much doing the same thing you accuse us of.
