For Christians no. I have heard of many stories where Christian have died and it was very peaceful. When my pastors mother died she looked up with a warm smile at the ceiling as she took her last breath.

On the other hand I have heard of stories where sinners at sometimes have complained of extreme torment and terror while dieing.

Not in all cases of death does the people around know what the dieing person experiences. I have witnessed a few in the last two years. In most cases they seem to just quit breathing.

1 Corinthians 15:55
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

1 Corinthians 15:56
The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

What makes you think dying would be painless?

Scientist's understanding of death is always increasing. For example, the hallucinations people have when they "die" and are brought back a few minutes later... those are much better understood than just 10 years ago.

Also they are closing in on the actual process of cellular death... currently they are speculating that a human body could be revived even HOURS after death... the revival attempts that doctors try this very day are actually bass-ackwards and in the coming years they will change to accommodate our new understanding

There is no mystery , for the Bible clearly says that at death there is no conscious soul that goes to some other place.

At death we die , and for all intents and purposes we are no more.

Fortunately God plans a resurrection of the dead to life on Earth (no not reincarnation) so they can have a fair opportunity to get to know him and his purposes for mankind.

They will then be able to choose , Gods way , or the way of his chief opposer Satan the devil.

Again, there are documented instances of a person lying on a bed that accurately measures weight constantly. There are recorded circumstances that with nothing added or removed from the bed, the weight decreased by a slight amount, I think it was some where in fractions of an ounce.
Many think this indicates the "freeing" of a soul and that it is measurable in weight.

Ive read some stories on near-death experiences and they say that there is no pain when the soul leaves the body. Usually, the person's last recollection would be seeing what they saw before they died. Unless your against Christ then I imagine you feel the pain of death and suffering.

Pain is of the body mind complex not soul. People who rise above mind body complex to Soul level don't experience pain in that state.

Any one can get into that state including scientist, but won't be able to explain it

Scientists have never found any real evidence that souls exist. Scientists are concerned with things that can be proven, not imaginary stuff like souls.

Scientists know that there isn't any such thing as a "soul".

Studying your question would be like trying to get a grant to investigate out why Casper the Friendly Ghost is so friendly.

Today's science studies physical reality, not spiritual reality. Everything spiritual is a mystery for today's scientists because spiritual things are out of the realm of their expertise, as current methodologies and technology are inadequate to study spiritual reality. Why does this continue to bother folks?

There is no such thing as a soul. Another lie that deluded folk adhere to for want of a better education.
Wanting something to be true does not make it true, no matter how much you want it.
There is no after-life. Cope with reality!!!
