Yesterday, my best friend, who has lived his life with a never-ceasing devotion to God's will, had a prophetic experience.
At around 10 am, while I was already at work and my children in school, he received a message from God, that I was in need of his help. Although he was hesitant and confused, he drove to my house, knowing that no one was home, but trusting his spiritual insight.
As he entered...my blanket, that I had inadvertently flung off the bed, unaware that it landed on a lamp that was still lit from the night before, ignited !
Miraculously my friend arrived just in time. He saved my house from burning down to the ground and from us loosing all of our belongings.
Who would like to make a suggestion on how I could possibly express my tremendous gratitude?
How does one thank a prophet?

...one hour has passed since I've posted my question, and I have received 10 wonderful, sincere and heartfelt answers from people that find comfort and purpose in their faith and devotion to God's will.
I feel blessed with yet another miracle, thank you all for your gifts of hope, love, promise and God consciousness.
I celebrate the Glory of your Souls.
I will express my appreciation by "paying it forward... by listening and doing for others like he did for me... and by letting the example of his faithfulness lead me to be the same!"

He listened to God... and he acted upon it. That doesnt happen much these days from what i see personally around here!! that is awesome!
invite him over for supper and sincerely thank him in words, not only for saving your home but for being an example of a Godly man. Words of affirmation speak louder than any gesture of material things.
and then, go and pay it forward... listen and do for others like he did for you... that is the best kind of thanks i think anyone can give... that the example of his faithfulness leads you to be the same!
I love how God works!
edit to add: God still gives people the gift of prophecy... it is alive and well today in His people. while there may not be 'prophets' as there were in the bible (tho, i dont doubt that there could be because God is powerful enough for anything), being empowered in a gifting when God needs to call it up in us, is real... is for now and all times.

Prophets do exist, that is biblical, "some are given the gift of Prophecy", and I believe strongly that the Lord does communicate with us when wee are willing to listen.
I would thank your friend who is obviously a lover of God, with an invite to pray together, and spend time in fellowship.
God does work in mysterious ways and He has gifted you, through your friend with the blessing of a lifetime, appreciate that and spread the Grace you have been given.

Divine intervention is a HUGE gift from God, only a handful of people actually receive his word. You are very lucky to have a friend like that, and God knew you were in need.
Honestly, I would kneel with your friend and thank God for the blessing. Maybe take him out to a dinner, for a good gesture.

I, too, would hestitate to call this a prophetic word. I do believe in Prophecy being active today --- but this was simply listening to the Holy Spirit and obeying God.
It was awesome for you! God saved your house! To Him be the glory for this!
However, I do think a warm thanks is appropriate. I would probably give a gift certificate to a restaurant or for a massage - something that is a real treat.
Thanks for the encouraging testimony!

If I were you, I would thank both God, and your best friend. The best way to thank your friend, is to continue your friendship, and be there whenever your friend needs your help. The best way to thank God is by sharing His love with others, raising your children properly, and being obedient to his word.

He's not a prophet.....as there are no modern day prophets but.....
God still speaks to His children through the Holy Spirit.
I love stories like this.....very encouraging.
You could maybe give this person a money gift or invite him to dinner at the house.......there's lots of ways to say thank you.
