Mark 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the
poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. KJV
Instead of telling the ruler to get rich, he told the man to get
"unrich". Instead of asking the man to give to him to be blessed, he told him to give to the poor to be blessed. Instead of allowing the man to join him because of his fame, money
power, and prestige, he told the man to deny all of that first, and then come after him! Instead of telling this man that if he gives a portion of his riches to the church he would be blessed and highly favored, Jesus didn't ask him for anything for the church because his possesions weren't important, his soul was! Jesus did not tell him it was his season and he was about to walk into his destiny, favor, and breathrough. Jesus made no promises to him but rather just tested his love for him.

Do you know HOW many "Preachers" would be out of a so call "Job" If they did this. They would be tared and feathered and run out of town, faster the rain and it already sprinkling. Of course unless they are like my husband. He tells the people right up front that, he does not work for them and if they don't like what he Preaches to come forward and they will pray about it and God will change one of their heart. He says if he is wrong he will apologies and get it right, but if they are wrong they need to be willing to do the same

I know what you mean, the Bible says that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to see heaven. Back then, needles were holes in walls that were a little shorter than the camel, they had to compress the camel to get him to fit; but it was possible. In the story Jesus first told the man, that he must follow the commandments and the man insisting that he had done these since he was little was trying to show Jesus up. So Jesus added more, (the man ask for more anyway) in your point, yes Christians are supposed to give everything they have, and if they don't then, God will judge them for that; but think of a world where everyone gave up everything. There would be no great sources (besides God) who we're supposed to fully rely on anyway, to fight off anything else. It takes some one with an awful lot of faith to use God like that. The church is no different. It needs the support of it's people. The Bible says to not forsake the assembling of yourselves together. Which means, we go there for support. Though you are right, Jesus didn't mention to the man to pay his portion to the church, under Jewish law, you were supposed to, meaning the man probably already had. Jacob promised God 1/10 or 10% of whatever he received. It was that was from there after. God always ask for the first fruits of the crop. The Bible says that God will never change, and the first chapter of John says that Jesus is God (plus about 50 other verses in the Bible which are less complicated; but John 1 is the only one I can remember). Another note. If the church bills are not paid, who can go? I am not trying to convince you as much as I'm trying to explain to you why I believe the way I do. I like hearing questions like these, they make me think about why I do things. You keep reading your Bible, and post some more questions like this people need to know why they do things and not that they just do them!

What you describe is definitely the mega churches...with the belief if there are many people there it must be true...and large amounts of money goes into the church....there are many many more churches that follow the Jesus principle closer...they meet maybe in small buildings or homes and the people have little and give what they have to others...maybe and I say just maybe these are closer to the true churches...the mega churches tend to have narcissistic leaders that actually may be false teachers....what they say may sound good to some but is not what should be taught.....those who judge the "Christian Church" based on what they see on TV or by the Mega Churches are wrong...the church is alive and well underneather the scene working more quietly.....it is said many will come but only a very few will enter....

Not all churches are after money. Some only ask what is required of God. !0% tithing and an offering for the poor.
By the same token. Not all churches pay their leaders.
One example is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons). Local leaders recieve no pay. National leaders recieve a token amount if needed. All anyone is asked to give is the 10% tithing and an offering for the poor, regardless of their income.

In the Bible It plainly says that men hold fast to THEIR teaching & THEIR doctrines...Making the word of God of no effect. You can be religious and go straight to hades. People want a REAL relationship with Jesus Christ. Not this religious mess..the outward apperance ..that certainly doesn't make you a Christian,no more than sitting In a garage makes you a cadillac.Jesus knew the man held money and his earthly posseions close to his heart. That's why Jesus asked him to give It to the poor,to see If he would LOVE & TRUST Him enough to put complete trust In Him,not money or posseions. Money was his Idol...

Hi,
I believe that most leaders today do opposite of what Jesus did, that's a better way to pose the question. Jesus lived a life that brought glory & honor to the father & himself. He live to die so that people like you & I can have life! There is nothing wrong with having but sometimes we put to much trust into what we have and lose sight of what really matters in life. More importantly, how we act toward others or that possession & the state of our relationship with Jesus!

It would be great if many did that all at once: great for God's glory for so many to be so moved. But you might not realize is that many do this without being written about. They give all they have, they give what is most precious to them, they give out of gratefulness in response to what they have received: The gift of grace and eternal life.
All Christians can look at this behavior and know that Jesus is worthy of it.

Jesus said it best in Matt. 13:8. It was useless to claim to worship him as "their hearts are far removed from me."
The clergy class is not totally responsible for the total abandonment of Jesus' teachings, although they have the major portion of blame. Which is worse, to lead people into falsehoods or to willingly follow them?
At 2 Timothy 4:3, it shows "men would accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled." So people willingly seek out such liars because they choose to believe the lies to make them feel whatever depravity they practice to be proper.
Jesus told all the people in your question to abandon what they loved more than true worship to the true God. Each case had nothing wrong in itself. Money is necessary in this world to provide for one's family and ourselves. It is putting the accumulation or display of money above all else including service to God.

Because Jesus walked in full obedience to the Father. Jesus would hear, receive, act and obey, just like we are supposed to do, all of us. All are called but only a few will answer. Most ppl will want to do some of what God says, but still keep some of their on SELF involved, This included leaders, that walk with the traditions of men, instead of being in the full spirit of the living God.
We claim we are christian, so easy to say. But unless we love God enough to obey and accept HIS COMMAND to live like Jesus, we arent really His. Its all just lipservice and God will say I KNEW YOU NOT. God calls us to holiness, purity, reighteous, and we can do that, all thru the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. I count it all as joy. But we must fully surrender our will to God, and have His desires as His desires. Then He will call us HIS CHOSEN FEW who He will deem as RIGHTEOUS. WE arent there yet, but we can surely be on the way. GOd loves us and forgives us if we backslide, but fact is, before we die or Jesus comes again, we must be FREE from sin. Jesus didnt come to make us free to sin, but free from sin, in thought, deed and action. Few will hear this, let alone do it. I have found that as I speak what God has revealed to me, used to be popular in churches. But with all the last day deception coming in, most churches will try to silence my voice. But my voice is Gods voice and you cant silence a true Christian speaking what God speaks to them. Unless we answer Gods call to love and obey, we will always fall short of His glory. Why do you thin k the devil tries so hard to be sure we wont know or accept this message.
OBedience leads to blessing and disobedience leads to curse. Jesus is coming soon. Lets all be ready to meet Him when He comes. ITs not what man says , nor even the leaders. ITs only what God says that counts....

I agree.... The gospel call to deny ourselves, take up our crosses, and follow Him has been replaced by a cheap grotesque imitation filled with buzz words like "destiny" and "prosperity".
Humility, poverty of spirit, meekness, serving one another, modesty in appearance, giving away riches, forsaking the pleasures of this world - where are the men who will preach these things??
Oh, God, give help!
god bless
