I always had a hard time wondering why Christians believe in Satan. It makes sense to believe in a higher power that does only good, it is quite another thing to voluntarily believe in a higher power that does only evil. Any personal experiences or thoughts to help clarify this uncertainty of mine?

And yes, I know the bible says Satan is real.

"catholics follow Satan."

What is your take on a Christian who says such comments?

"And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will." -- 2 Timothy 2:24-26 KJV

My Hubby and I have been invited to a barbeque at his boss's house on Labor Day. We live in a small community as does the boss & his family. Would it be rude to call the boss's wife and ask if I could bring anything or help in anyway? This is a casual gathering of workers and most of them are single guys so I don't know how much real help she has. She as young children as well.

You know as christians we should be able to give up everything for christ? Just like Job. Well I was wondering if God would ever ask me to hurt someone or kill someone close to me to prove my devotion... would God ever ask me to do drastic things to prove devotion? I would never think so and dont worry im not thinking about murdering anyone.. lol. Ive just been thinking alot about things and watching these shows about demons and the devil and exorcisms ...I only watch these things to strengthen my faith. I wouldnt think that God would want me to hurt anyone or anything... or is it really all his? Like in Job, God (well God didnt but he gave the devil to permission to) took everything away from Job.. his family / house / livestock to prove that Job knew that the lord could "taketh away" and Job would still be faithful.

I mean, who cares if he was trying to hit on a guy in the bathroom? What's the big flippin deal? He's my senator, and the only thing I hold against him is his lies and hypocricy...not his kinks. I've got kinks too. I'm just scared to go into the girl's bathroom because I think they'd be mad.

I always see people eating a huge piece of cake and pushing the frosting off to the side (to save calories). Personally, I would rather have a small piece of cake with lots of frosting.

Which do you suppose has more calories? The bigger piece of cake with no frosting or a smaller piece of cake with lots of frosting!

The cosmoloigcal argument comes from the term cosmos, which means "the universe" and from which we get the word cosmetic. It means "ordered and beautiful," and there is within the universe so much evidence of order that it would be impossible to to list it all. Quantum physics has demonstrated that at the level of subatomic particles, there is an irresistible urge of electrons toward symmetry and that there is an amazing cosmetic aspect to the universe.
You see if u think about the Big Bang Theory then u have to alos ask the question who made the junk to go bang and then u have to look at the first and second law of therodynamics and see how they contridict each other, and then u can look at platetutonics, then u could look in the Bible and see how God gave Abraham the laws concerning medical issuses and dieases which man didnt really learn until the 1800's, and then the prophecies like against the city of Tyre, and how over a century alter that prophecy came to past, every detail

I'd like to start going to lds church, but I'd be going alone and I have never been. I'm afraid I wouldn't know where to go or what to do or what's going on. Can anyone out there give me a detailed description of what goes on at church and what I should do? I'd like to know what to expect! Thanks!

many people said that "god never intended people to be perfect. So, god intended for people to be sinful from the beginning? That would explain the tree in the garden.
This is a new twist on christianity. I always thought Christians believe that Adam and Eve "fell from Grace" when they succumbed to temptation.
Now I understand some of you believe that god never intended them to be perfect? Interesting. So, they were just following god's intentions?

So many of you LOVE to call Christians 'hypocrites', but I'm not convinced that label fits. MY dictionary says a hypocrite is someone who is PRETENDING to be something they are not. What makes YOU call someone a hypocrite?

A lot of children don't get enough food, and in some places even starve to death. Other children have to work in sweat shops for 14 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 25 cents an hour. Some children, orphaned or abandoned, have to beg on the streets. Other children are repeatedly whipped with a belt by their fathers or step-fathers.

Many of these children won't go to heaven after they die, because they have a different religion from Christianity, and will never have a chance to accept Christ as their savior. But if God won't allow them into heaven, at least He might try to reduce the amount of pain and suffering they are experiencing now.

So could God do something to help these children if He wanted to?

Are young people in Britain more violent than they used to be? I am an American who recently began reading BBC online. It seems a lot of incidents of violence, shootings, gangs, etc. are going on among teens in Britain. But I don't know if this has always been the case since I don't live there.

What is you opinion concerning the following?

"As Muslims, we often spend so much time discussing and explaining the Muslim woman's unique way of dressing to others (and even to each other) that it leaves the impression that women are responsible for controlling the desire and behaviors of men in society. Naturally, then, people want to know why men simply don't learn how to behave and stop blaming women for being beautiful, something which cannot be controlled anyway. Recently I received an e-mail from a reader asking for some clarification on these issues. I am grateful for the letter she sent me because it is an opportunity to review the responsibilities of the Muslim man with regards to his dress, behavior and interaction with women in society. In addition, it is a good introduction to discussing the virtues of hijab (veil) beyond its function in concealing the beauty of the female body.

First, he tries to destroy it, then he sacrifices himself to himself just so that he can have us around in heaven.
Would these kind of results be acceptable where you work?
