What is you opinion concerning the following?

"As Muslims, we often spend so much time discussing and explaining the Muslim woman's unique way of dressing to others (and even to each other) that it leaves the impression that women are responsible for controlling the desire and behaviors of men in society. Naturally, then, people want to know why men simply don't learn how to behave and stop blaming women for being beautiful, something which cannot be controlled anyway. Recently I received an e-mail from a reader asking for some clarification on these issues. I am grateful for the letter she sent me because it is an opportunity to review the responsibilities of the Muslim man with regards to his dress, behavior and interaction with women in society. In addition, it is a good introduction to discussing the virtues of hijab (veil) beyond its function in concealing the beauty of the female body.

In Islam, men and women both are responsible for controlling their desires and this is apparent in every aspect of the Islamic faith, beginning with the story of Adam and Eve (peace be upon them), the first man and woman on Earth, upon whom Allah (God) placed equal blame for the sins they committed in the Garden as described in the Qur'an, the holy book of Muslims. This is different from the Biblical accounts of Adam and Eve which assert that Eve is the one responsible for leading Adam towards sin and was cursed with the pain of menstruation and childbirth as her punishment and legacy for all of womankind to inherit as a reminder for her sins.

It is very important that we understand the responsibility of Adam, peace be upon him, in this scenario in order to realize that Islam at its very foundation did not make a distinction between male and female when it comes to taking responsibility for one's own shortcomings, mistakes and character flaws which are common to all human beings regardless of gender. Nor did Islam burden women with the legacy of Eve's sins as it is believed that all humans are born sin-free and cannot sin until they have matured and learned the difference between right and wrong. Take a look at the article Women In Islam Versus Women In The Judaeo-Christian Tradition, by Dr. Sherif Abdel-Azeem to learn more about Adam and Eve as explained by Islam.

No one has the right to control other's halal Lust "For wife\ hubby"...

The Sin of the Tree was committed by Adam only.. As Allah says:

"Then Adam received from his Lord words (of revelation), and He relented toward him. Lo! He is the relenting, the Merciful. " 2: 37

Let me be offensive to those who say women need to have a circumcison because they "Lust" when their genitals are rubbed to the clothes.. We men also are exited when our members are rubbed to the clothes.. Shall we cut it off???

Isn't a female a full creature and will be judged by God? why should you care about what she wear? Allah wont Judge me for othyer people's clothes...

Yea okay buddy. The Bible's account does not put all the blame on Eve, Adam was just as much at fault as she was. You are taking your presuppositions here and extrapolating out a scenario which is somewhat unrealistic. I am a Christian man and I have little or no trouble controlling my sexual urges. I have not slept with multiple women and I do not "blame" them for being beutiful. I dont know of a religion which is more againsts womens' rights than Islam. Seriously, what religion has the men get 72 virgins or whatever when they blowup themselves with some "infidels." While if a women blows herself up with some "infidels" she gets nothing? I thought muslim women wore those veils as a sign of humility? I thought muslim women were considered to be barely more than beasts in their religion?

Women are NOT responsible for controlling mens desires, men are responsible for controlling their own desires. I am living proof that by the grace of God any man can turn away from the desires of the flesh. I know I am not perfect, but I know im not going out and sleeping around like I could.

Gnostic wtf are you talking about? "The lack of accountablity in men astound me" what a heaping pile of bullsh!t. Maybe you should sit down with the woman in the mirror and ask yourself if you are taking accountabity for yourself. How about a womans right to choose to kill her baby? Is that a good example of how vastly more accountable women are than men? Give me a f*cking break you hypocrite, btw girl you aint that cute and I DONT want you now or ever, so get over yourself and realize your gender is no better or worse than mine .

We are responsible for controlling our own lusts. however it is a sin for a woman to excite the lust of a man intentionally with out being married to him. Of course it goes both ways as to a man doing so to a woman also.
As a Mormon we also have a dress code that specifies modesty, although not even close to a Muslim. However I do respect any one who is willing to show an outward appearance of their religion. " I think no matter what religion we are the thing that will count the most in the end is what is in your heart" And from what I can see from your questions explaining your religion you have a great heart.

If it is the job of the woman to control a mans lust then why is he allowed to have more than one wife?! He also has the right to divorce that wife for any reason he can show that is not "holy" or can show proof that she has not been following islamic law that states what HER wifely duties are.
Why is it that a woman can not have more than one husband in your beliefs, why is it that you have to prove that your husband is not following the laws of islam concerning marriage (which are very few for the men) and all relate to his sexual performance and attentiveness or his dedication to HIS wifes religious knowledge and how he is taking care of her religiousness? I have studied the Qu'ran but it seems to me that you are not walking the faith together which is the way I interpreted it. I only see a male dominated religion that prohibits his wife (the one he married and loved) to walk beside him through his journey of rightousness but only to help him become better in the eyes of his peers and Allah.
All I can say is be blessed my sister and I hope you have a smooth journey in your search for your path of perfection.
Blessed be and peace

No. The whole thing is nonsense, if for no other reason than that the Adam and Eve tail is fiction. The Islamic view of human sexuality is about as warped as that of the Catholic Church.

I still think if you actually wanted to be free of lust, a society would encourage nudity. After all, what's plainly visable isn't very interesting after 15 minutes. Ok, maybe 20 minutes...

The whole veil and covering seems kind of counter-intuitive, since it just reinfoces the taboo of the human body, which draws attention to lust. And it's uncomfortable. Ergo, I still believe that regardless of the tradition, it's a bad idea.

a better question is why are humans the only animals to have this preoccupation with "lust" and controlling it. "lower" animals (and animals we are, highly evolved perhaps but subject to pheromones and hormones as surely as any other) run around naked and do whatever whenever they like, without fretting about what some higher power will think.

It is never anyones "job" to control anyone.
It is everyones "job" to control self!

If a man has ANY area in his life he doesn't control then he doesn't know G♥d!

If any teach that men aren't to be blamed for not controlling themselves then the teacher is from hell itself and takes all followers with him. I say this in love and I say it with the mouth of G♥d himself.

EDIT: So many people told me I'm "lucky" because I looked nice when I was young. I had men tell me that they knew I wanted them because they wanted me! The lack of accountability of men staggers the imagination and many have become delusional and mislead concerning these things.

Long....
Thank you for so eloquently proving my point. Now if you can detach your emotions from your experience then read what you posted to me just now you’ll see how once again the truth of G♥d is revealed by the word I speak.
Judging by the way you just judged me you have hurt many women and you believe it was their fault.
We always accuse people of things we are guilty of ourselves; use that as a mirror to understand your darkness.

Do not fear, “I am” with you always.

You are right, many people did not read the question fully.

A lot of people don't acknowledge that most women choose to wear the hijab.

uh....NO

this is the kind of logic that some men use to blame women for being raped. You've got to be kidding. Women are not responsible for controlling mens actions. They need to take responsibility for themselves
