Wow, good question! My thoughts is to be an example of Christ's love. Be open, honest, kind and loving as you share with others the gospel. Be willing to answer questions, using scripture to back up what you say and let the person read it for themselves. Sometimes too, if they own a Bible, let them use theirs or even use a more modern translation (as long as it is a good, easy to understand one). Just do not come across as judgemental or harsh. Pray and let the Holy Spirit open their eyes to God's truth.

We should be living the type of life that causes even casual acquaintances to ask how we handle life so graciously, then take the time to share. If we stop to help a stranger in trouble, give the credit to Jesus. Let them know that is what you base your life on: Pleasing the Lord. We need to be the Good Ambassadors of Christ, not the crusaders. When someone says they don't want to hear you, shake the dust from your feet, and do not trouble them anymore, but leave the door open!

Dear Dr. G,
I appreaciate your question! However, I believe many people here in Y/A Religion are following "another gospel." If you read Matthew 7:21-23 the Lord tells us that there will be many on Judgment Day that "thought" they were saved but never were.
A person cannot "accept" Jesus as a gift. What do you do with the verse, "There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God." (Romans 3:11)? Or "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day." (John 6:44)? Or John 1:13, "Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."
Or Romans 9:16, "So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy."
In 2 Thessalonians 2:13 we read, "But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:"
In Ephesians 1:3-5 we read, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,"
I am happy that you put your question on Y/A Religion concerning Christian conduct, but there are too many here that believe that they can get someone saved. God is the only One who can save a person! The servants of God are just to sow the word. God will give life to those whom He had chosen.

i think just be ourselves, witness the Word and God the Holy Spirit will work through the Word in the redemption and sanctification, applying the Word to the heart of an individual; so, just be patient and let God do all the work; those who are unsaved are like a corpse, and we cannot bring a corpse to life, only God can, by His grace and mercy:
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; - Ephesians 2:1.
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) - Ephesians 2:4,5.
Also, in the verse you cite, 2 Timothy 2 it tells us to be strong; if you go to the very next chapter 2 Timothy 3 gives the flip-side, verses 2-4 names the ways we do not want to be involved with.

By preaching the Gospel like our Lord told us to!
I rally think that after all this time, Christians who do not practice the preaching of the Gospel do not believe the scriptures as it says that the power of God is in the Gospel! Literally and multiple times! Instead, Satan has gotten a hold of their thinking and they began to preach all other manner of things:
Homosexuality, Gay Marriage, Politics, War, Fashion, Cults, Anti-Smoking, Sin, Political Correctness and Anti Political Correctness, etc.
I could scream right now!
Christians need to preach the Gospel. That's what we are supposed to be doing!
This message:
Jesus Christ died and provided salvation for whoever believes in Him. Anyone who wants to may gain salvation through Jesus Christ.

"win people over", are we in a contest?
Ours is to preach, share our thoughts and hearts, and show by example in whatever we may believe in. It's not a question of who is right or wrong. Everyone, has the human right to choose what they want to believe or follow you. There is no winner or loser. Except, for those that purposely choose for themselves to loose.

Try doing as Jesus said to do. Go out with nothing in your pockets. Do twice the work asked. Give you coat and your cloak.
Actions and deeds speak louder than words.
