I just posted a question asking for vegetarian recipes, and read a Q in the Vegetarian and Vegan section. While doing so, it occurred to me that artificial additives in foods are derived from fossil fuels, and fossil fuels are formed from prehistoric plants and ANIMALS.

Verification: http://www.fossil.energy.gov/education/energylessons/coal/gen_howformed.html

If the choice to be vegan is an moral/spiritual/ethical one (rather than for health reasons), is there an ethical dilemma in vegans using fossil fuels (and everything derived therefrom)?

Where is the line drawn on not using "animal products" and why?

I really feel bad about something I did, even though I already asked the Lord to forgive me. This guy overheard me saying something about him and I think it kind of annoyed him. He has made fun of me mercilessly and even made sexual comments to me in the past, but he doesn't really do much of anything anymore except make weird noises around me. I know I should apologize to him, but I actually feel like I'm in danger sometimes when I'm around him (because of some of those things that he's done). I'm saved, but this is my big sin area (dealing w/ unlikable people). Please help. thanks!

There seem to be many positive effects of prayer, for example. Studies show that patients who pray heal faster and prayer tends to lower stress levels.

Can an atheist reap the benefits with the knowledge that it is a placebo effect?

I keep hearing people call one another ignorant on this site just for having a certain set of beliefs. But would anyone whos truly open minded and intelligent call someone close minded, ignorant or stupid? It seems me that these judgments cannot be made without knowing the person. Someone might ask a dumb question or give a dumb answer but that does not make them ignorant or stupid necessarily. We all learn though our mistakes and some of the wisest among us have made the most mistakes. When I see someone esle call someone else out for being close minded and stupid, it makes me think about how close minded and stupid they are making themselves look.

And the sweeping generalizations people make about Christians and Atheists lately are driving me nuts. NONE of us TRULY know the answer to any of lifes toughest questions because none of us were present to witness the beginning of time. I like to hear other peoples thougts but do not the thoughtless hate of late.

Do you know where you were before you were born? If not, why do you think it will be any different after you die? Or, do you believe god created the the soul after conception? If so, what's your foundation for that belief? And, why don't you think the soul will cease to exist after death, since it seems to be intrinsically connected to the body? Think about answering maturely, you could possibly win someone over to your side.

Of someone has lost purpose in life, how would one guide them so that they may find their purpose, and get them motivated to live?

NO ANTI-DEPRESSANT ANSWERS. Honostly, I dont think anyone should take a drug to change their mood. Change comes from within, but sometimes, a helping human hand is what we need. How can I be that helping hand, when the person in question is constantly pushing you away?

Don't give me links to science Journals, because when you want us to prove to you creation happened we can't use the bible.

I've seen pictures drawn of man rising from apes, I've seen fossils of people long ago(like 12,000 years or something?) but I haven't, in all of my science classes, seen pictures of fossils of a transitional species turning from ape to man...

So...give me proof macro evolution is happening. Major changes in species from ape to man....

And yes, yes, there is micro evolution, eye color, skin tone, facial features, etc...but that's not Macro-evolution...

I'm thinking that religous people practice criticism on each other, at least as much as they critisize themselves. It's seems to be much like two barbers, one with a good haircut, and one with a bad haircut. Which barber would you want? (Remember, barbers cut each other's hair when they don't have customers) Perhaps the best minister, isn't the most attractive, or sociable minister.

If you don't want a haircut, why do you hang around the barbershop? Perhaps you remember when you had hair (faith)? Maybe you enjoy the company of well-groomed folks(works)? Maybe you just like the atmosphere (other people's prayers).

I don't like PC preachers, or overly groomed barbers...

If the Vatican came out in support of evolution what would be the reaction among Christians???

An analogous situation would be when the sun was shown not to revolve around Earth, and the Vatican denied for awhile but then had to come to terms with it.
