The Vatican was built upon the grounds previously devoted to the worship of Mithra (600 B.C.). The Orthodox Christian hierarchy is nearly identical to the Mithraic version. Virtually all of the elements of Orthodox Christian rituals, from miter, wafer, water baptism, alter, and doxology, were adopted from the Mithra and earlier pagan mystery religions. The religion of Mithra preceded Christianity by roughly six hundred years.
Mithra was born on December 25th as an offspring of the Sun
He was considered a great traveling teacher and masters. He had twelve companions as Jesus had twelve disciples. Mithras also performed miracles.
Mithra was called "the good shepherd,” "the way, the truth and the light,” “redeemer,” “savior,” “Messiah." He was identified with both the lion and the lamb.

I have a very nosey neighbor neighbor. She asks me personal questions, like if I'm dating, do I even go to the health club I joined and tells others about who she sees coming and leaving my house. I feel as if I am under servalience. I like to walk with my dogs, but I feel as if all eyes are on me......what you think? Plus, do you think I should drive to a park and walk my dogs?

Instead of material "things" into GOLD? Whereby one has the ability to create something out of nothing? Out of "thin air"?
As there is no nothing. For even the dark matter we know of today is made from the energy of the Lifeforce which is sent out into Creation by the Source of Life we call God?

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is being sued in a Belgian court, holding him responsible for the 1982 massacres of 800 to 2,000 Palestinian civilians in Lebanese refugee camps, the daily Le Soir reported Saturday.
The plaintiffs in the suit against Sharon are a mix of Palestinians, Lebanese, Moroccans and Belgians grouped in an ad hoc committee.
They accuse Sharon of allowing Christian militias to slaughter between 800 and 2,000 Palestinian refugees at the Sabra and Shatila camps located in an area of Lebanon controlled by the Israeli military after Israel's 1982 invasion of Lebanon when Sharon was defense minister.

Because I took a supplement that raised my testosterone levels and I was into guys a lot more and sex drive was crazy - I didn't suddenly become heterosexual because of my increased T levels, so, how does this theory counter act with the theory that hormones determine sexuality?

lol, my husband just asked me this, but on a serious note, is it possible for all of us to respect each other and agree to disagree without all of the adversity and strife and to stop reporting people just because you do not agree with them and leave the reporting for the ones who really deserve it, like the obscene, and the crass?

Why are you an atheist? Why don't you believe in God? To those of you who believe in God please explain why you do believe in God so that these atheists may have reason to consider a change in their ways.

I often do. Usually it is just imaginary judgements that I put on myself. Sometimes I behave in a way which I know is no good for me.

Are there any specific spiritual practices that help with shame? and/or help me to find more willpower?

(p.s. I'm into Buddhism)

Someone is going to say they think there is life on other planets as yet undiscovered, but shouldn't we wait till we find it before we conclude that God exists?

As late as the early 20th century, farmers in Rogaland, Norway, sacrificed an oxen to their primal ancestor on the family burial mound everytime someone died.

Traditional culture in places like Mexico and Korea have a day set aside each year to decorate family graves, and throw a big party or feast in honor of all the family dead.

Nowadays, many people have a "family wall" of photos, or treasured heirlooms . . . I have many of my father's books, and some owl stuff from his office, but as a heathen, I also do an annual feast for the dead, among other observances.

What do YOU do? How big a part do your ancestors play in your daily life?

If he wanted that he would easily do it. I think it is easier than creating this whole universe (The Creator knows the best of course).

Aren't angles like that? They all believe in the Creator and are always praying. Some/most (I don't know how many) didn't even see the Creator.

And can't the creator may want to create creatures like us to see what we would do in a world like this? Logical I guess.

the full text of St. Mark chapter 10 (between verses 34 and 35 in the standard version of the Bible) contains a passage which includes the following text. --
"And the youth, looking upon him (Jesus), loved him and beseeched that he might remain with him. And going out of the tomb, they went into the house of the youth, for he was rich. And after six days, Jesus instructed him and, at evening, the youth came to him wearing a linen cloth over his naked body. And he remained with him that night, for Jesus taught him the mystery of the Kingdom of God".

Anybody have any other verses to add to that?
