From the perspective of what you are trying to accomplish, yes. Applying the alchemy of different energies to our physical body enables us to transmute ourselves into pure energy, or spirit.
I believe the alchemy of Reiki, Tai-Chi and Kung Fu will enable us to accelerate our energies as we attune them to the highest order of energy within this Universe. This will subsequently enable us to transmute into the fourth dimension, where we will think and feel it and instantly become it -- not have to wait 10 or 20 years to manifest a thought and a feeling behind which we have put our power.
So, yes, alchemy is what you perceive it to be. It is about altering the structure of the Universal Life Force. It is about attuning our Life Force to that new structure.

On the one hand, alchemy was an early form of chemistry and pharmacy. On the other, there was a trend among certain alchemists in which alchemy was a spiritual path. Alchemists of this kind were not trying to "transcend" their bodies or the material world (as were mystical Christians and especially eastern yogis, and Gnostics). They were trying to get rid of the impurities of the self to realize their true nature on earth so that the material plane mirrored the celestial plane in accordance with the hermaneutic adage "As above, so below." The mystical significance of "turning lead into gold" or "moving from Saturn to the Sol" was to move from darkness and limitation to light and life.
When the alchemist achieved enlightenment, he was said to have found the "philosopher's stone". It wasn't a "thing'; it was himself. In yoga, a similar idea exists. A perfected person is said to have attained "the diamond body."

Transmutation is changing vulgar mater into pure gold. Creating "ex nihilo" out of nothing is what God does. The art of the alchemist -by the way al chemia- chemistry in arabic, is understanding and repicating laws, be them occult. We can now create gold in laboratories. The spiritual implications are different. Good study ;-)

Alchemy is Chemistry. It was just an earlier form. Many people believed that they could change one substance into another, or prolong life. In a way some of them were right.

The Alchemist wanted to sell his wares. In this way material becomes gold. Money in his pocket for having sold something made of metal.

Possibly but since we are really spirit to begin with, the "alchemy"part of it is to transform spirit into protoplasm. Much like terra forming in a manner of speaking.:)

That's right. The production of gold was a fund-raiser, not the main point of Alchemy.
