Technology has revealed many complexities of the workings of the universe. Some people claim that that is a part of knowing god.
We have made incredible leaps in our understanding of the development of man through careful archaeological studies and by applying more and more sophisticated science to our study. We are still making guesses about the past but they are better educated guesses.
Despite this we have not EVOLVED significantly since then. There is even some question of how much we have or have not grown socially.
In the end it is still up to individual interpretation.

Humans have advanced in technology, not in the understanding of God. The bible was in effect 2000 years ago, and that's pretty much all of the understanding we have of God, and we haven't gained any more knowledge of God than that. Until you have the holy spirit with you, which many people did 2000 years ago, the bible is all we know.

I tell ya, seeing "The Life of Brian" without microwave popcorn is NOT a spiritual experience ! A little bit like reading the bible without a drink, if you can imagine that...

I feel the need to defer to Douglas Adams on this one.
"Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the Western Spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-eight million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue-green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea."

Ha ha have you seen those 70 games shows with the microwaves they had? LOL those things were the size of ovens. I think the term 'god' was used in the bible as a scare tactic to keep the people from straying from the laws they wrote.

Countless ancient civilizations worshiped a divine entity of some kind. So apparently all ancient peoples had a sense of the divine.

Well, they also had no TV, no radio, no newspaper, no telephones. The cooked on fire, they hunted and killed and gathered to eat. What do you think they thought about while they were doing all of this? Of course they understood God! Probably better then we do now. Thanks for the 2 points!!!
