What sin that humans can commit warrants infinite torture in hell? Doesn't it seem a little overzealously cruel of the Christian god?

Was the Essene sect of Judaism mentioned in the Bible, Old or New testament? Also, what were Jesus' opinions on the Essenses and their teachings?

What is your view of God? Is He vengeful, unattainable, distant? Is He near? Can you be "friends" with Him?
And what is your religion/former religion if applicable?

And please, take this in the spirit it's intended, but atheists need not answer unless it's from the perspective of your FORMER religion, if you have one. If you have ALWAYS been an atheist, then I'm sure we all know what your view of God is: "He doesn't exist." *smile* Love ya anyway.

deuteronomy 21:18-20
18 If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, 19 his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. 20 They shall say to the elders, "This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a profligate and a drunkard."

how come if hes rebellious you are supposed to tell the priests/judges that he is profligate and a drunkard? who said anything about him being drunk? is there a mistranslation here?

you either love it or you hate it. i`ve had a liking for naughty pictures for years. would god really flood the whole world and did everyone expect for noel deserve to drown?
why did god do that if jesus died to save our sins? drowning is not forgiving
and also-i dont quite believe the gathering of all the animals in the world- how did noel convince the lions who may have lived thousands of miles away to come back to his boat?and fit them all on???
and the other animals that drowned why did they derserve that??

I mean, I have nothing against people who smoke, let them do what they want to do, but being in a closed car, you would think that people would have the decency to wait a few minutes. or stop over or something. I dunno, it just bothers me.

there was this boy.
and we went out.
and I feel like the world crashed down on me when we broke up
we had gone out for almost 8 months and we were so happy.
but now all I feel is hurt and pain.
Im not normaly a sad person
its normaly really hard to make me cry
buut I did.
for hours and I still am
my friend sells drugs.
and before this I knew drugs were the stupidist thing ever.
but now Im consitering it.
I feel terrible
and I know its a sin
but I feel like this is my only way out
i need perfesional help
but I cant get it

because it confuses me that they say the Jesus (pbuh) died for "their" sins...

should anyone really be held accountable, punished, killed, die for, and/or written on his/her record, someone else's sins..
