I was just thinking along the lines of how some religious ideas, doctrines etc are detracting from the real truth about life/death etc

Ok, this is deep (even for me) but I've eaten some strange chocolate about an hour ago so bear with me

The simple truth is that at the centre of the universe beats the heart of a loving God.

I've often thought that too. A lot of times I've brought books on Kabbala/Buddhism etc. They usually start off very simple with common sense advice on moral conduct then after a few chapters it all just descends into silliness, they completely veer of the beaten track of logic and start talking about seven headed daemon-gods who correspond to the planet Jupiter on tuesday and sweet basil blah blah blah. Maybe it's just my unenlightened ignorance but it seems that a lot of men in throughout history became very frustrated with the endless philosophical ruminations that proved to shed no light on the mystery. What often resulted were fantastical theories about the mechanics of the universe and our spiritual place in it. It almost seems like the way an authour of fantasy fiction creates worlds with their own laws and truths. Man will always claim he has found the truth and set out his own elaborate deliniations of things man will never really understand and they become more and more ridiculous as you go from each religion but seem very profound just because of their antiquity. According to the "profoundly wise" mystics of Kabbala, femmininity corresponds to judgement and severity while masculinity corresponds to compassion and love, I mean AS IF! what planet were they on?! Sometimes I think It would be wiser if people (MEN) stop trying to make up their own silly versions of truth and demand we all believe it and subscribe to the cult and just accept divinity is out there; potent, ubiquituous, available to be accessed subtly without any need for rigid structure or dogma and ultimately, unknowable.

You are applying a principle known as "Occam's razor" commonly seen in Sherlock Holmes where he says "the simplest answer is often the correct one".

The idea of a supreme creator raises ALOT of questions. Why can't we all go through life without having to invent a story to live by? It just complicates things.

Cocoa and cannabis. You sure you picked the right one? Well they do both begin with a C afterall :S.

The TRUTH is as simple as what you are. Not what you "think" you but the very core of BEING. Be fully present, in the present, as the presence and you will become aware of awareness. The only thing that is ever REAL is NOW. Always Now is the natural state. Yet mind constantly removes us from the present moment into past, future, fantasy, imagination, day dream and so on. All being illusory and non existent - NOW. BE HERE NOW. Peace

Chocolate is good for you. Religion is political but now that you know the issue is clouded you can focus on what's important. Example, I'm Catholic but the whole thing with the saints is a joke. Catholics pray to saints and that's a big no-no. Are you sure that was chocolate?

Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

Sin seeks out many ways to cover the truth.

Truth is simple enough for even babes - ... because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

But ... the world by wisdom knew not God ... That no flesh should glory in his presence. - The clever, oh so clever people are no better than the not so clever. We are all in equal need.

We have nothing to boast about to God, quite the opposite.

The simple truth is too humbling for proud man -

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

Still Christ gives a simple invitation -

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

people believe in a higher power and an after life so they have something to turn to when things go wrong, something to give them strength.
there maybe a truth much more simple than what a lot of people talk about. but who truthfully knows? and will we ever know?

i mean come on, we all know the stalk delievers babies. and sex is only supposed to be a tool to have after marrage. 'cause adam and eve were married before they ever started to enjoy each other

Elvis you got it, it is simple and many do not understand and try to impose other to follow eg. Christian muslim can drink wine but muslim mislim cannot drink wine however if you follow the simplicity of the teaching of the Prophet Muhammad pbuh is to refrain from alchohol abuse.

Complex question my friend (doh!), you are starting on the question how much of our minds is truly us and how much is hormones, education and other outside influences. What if we took all this stuff away, would we be just cold and rational like computers? Maybe making things more complex is part of being human.

good point!
i think humans like to shroud things in an air of mystery sometimes; perhaps to make them feel more important when they realise how small, but not necessarily insignificant, we are in the big picture

blessed be
