I mean, I have nothing against people who smoke, let them do what they want to do, but being in a closed car, you would think that people would have the decency to wait a few minutes. or stop over or something. I dunno, it just bothers me.

I am a smoker. I do NOT smoke when non-smokers are in the car. I would consider it rude. I never smoke around children either. In fact, I try not to inflict my smoke on anyone but myself. :)

As a smoker, I have to remember that some people may have asthma or other problems that the smoke could aggrivate. My nephews grew up severe asthma, so I guess it's always in the back of my mind.

i am a smoker and i do smoke in my car. i would NEVER smoke in my car if i had a child as a passenger.

if i have other passengers in my car i will normally refrain from smoking while they're in there, unless i know them well and ask them first, knowing that they'll tell me the truth either way (ie not just say it's ok to be polite)

First of all, on behalf of most smokers, might I say, by and large we are a considerate bunch. If we are in other people's home, regardless of the weather, we generally go outside to smoke. However, if you are getting a ride in someone else's car - I believe you do NOT have the right to dictate if they choose to smoke there are not. If it bothers you so much, get your own car or take the bus. 'Nuff said!

No, it doesn't bother me.
I'm not a smoker, but I feel that if it is THEIR house or car, they have every right to smoke in it.

I mean, the nice thing to do would be to ask you if you mind and wait if you do, but they've worked to buy the car, why shouldn't they be allowed to smoke in it?

I would simply not get in a car with a smoker in it, if they were smoking. I can't even imagine someone letting a child get in that situation.

I am a smoker and I think anyone that exposes a child to second hand smoke is rude and selfish

You're right I agree...It's just wrong!! I know it's their car and all but can't they just wait I'm sure it won't kill them. How disrespectful!!But if you feel uncomfortable about it (and you should) speak up!Let them know you don't want them smoking around your child.by the way I'm also a smoker and every time someone rides in my car i always ask them if smoke bothers them before I light up.

If you don't want a person smoking in your car.... DRIVE YOUR OWN CAR!
How RUDE is it for you to expect someone to change their life for you. Doing YOU a favor by letting you ride in THEIR car.

I don't smoke, but I would NEVER tell a smoker they could not smoke in their own house or car. What kind of fathead would do that?

If you don't want you and your child exposed to smoke, get a ride with a non-smoker.

After all... they are doing YOU a favor by giving you a ride, right?

Kate dear I must agree with the others if it is their car you do not have much to stand on You can request for someone to not smoke in your child's presence but it is their car.
