I'm a theist and enjoy the writings of C.S. Lewis, William Lane Craig, Gary Habermas, Ravi Zacharais, Norman Geisler, Frederick Nietzsche, Bertrand Russell, Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins etc. etc. Obvioiusly, from my viewpoint I don't agree with them all, but it is essential to study/read form both sides of the fence. What about you?

This is a valid question. It happens to me on a near-daily basis. I have noticed it is only Hispanic, namely Mexican men, that do this. **PLEASE DON'T TAKE OFFENSE; I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH MEXICANS IN GENERAL** Often these men will have children in the car. I find that to be very tacky. What are they hoping to accomplish by driving by and honking at me as I'm walking up the street? Is this meant to be a compliment? I am curious.

You really think that's going to affect Christianity? Isn't that pretty unrealistic? or are you just here to harrass and annoy? if so,then you are trolls by definition, aren't you?
Do be courteous. That's that way of talking where one doesn't use insults or verbal abuse.

He taught a lot of different ideas, but what was the main, primary message of Jesus?

And why do you think so?

I've been thinking about conscience a lot lately. I think I need to clear some definitions up, first, though:

CONSCIENCE is your inner conception of what is right and wrong, developed as a result of:
(1) what you were taught as a child
(2) your personal moral reliasations as a teenager
(3) life experience which altered (1) and (2)
(4) spiritual revelations that changed your mind
(5) something else I haven't thought of yet

Consciousness is self-awareness... I'm not really asking about that, here. I'm talking about CONSCIENCE (inner moral compass).

People who are angry against a religion that they have left, and who actively try to pull down the faith of people who still believe in that religion... Are they doing this in an unconscious attempt to break down the moral conditioning, which they now reject?

Would it help them more to find their inner peace if they turned inwards to reconstruct their own consciences to wholeness, rather than trying to obliterate the outward religion?

trinity is basic belief of christians yet the word never been mentioned even once in the bible
verses that have been used to support it was a scribal error like in case of 1 John 5:8
thus we reach that christian belief is not based on bible but what priests say ,see
They worship me in vain;
their teachings are but rules taught by men.'[b] 8You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men."
if you said this verse prove christ divinity i would ask you ,when did jews worship christ?

I watched Dr. Phil today, and there was a guest on his show that was a judge. And he would sentence offenders by holding signs and standing in public stating what they did wrong. A couple of kids spray painted '666' on a Nativity set in someone's yard. And was sentenced to walking a donkey with a sign on the animal saying something to the affect that they were 'jackasses'...(sorry about the lanuage, I didn't make it up.) But, these people didn't have a criminal record, didn't go to jail and/or prison. Some went on to college and never broke another law. Tell me what you think? Is humiliation a good method to prevent crime? You can read more about it with these two links: Be honest, and think about it? Would you rather your child be humiliated and learn their lesson or go to jail and be a repeat offender? Do you think jail is better?

Google it if you like.

Isn't there something inherently wrong with religions that would even suggest to somebody that having a child is wrong and in leading them to conclude that murdering them is the right thing to do before a God?

Just because it's written throughout the OT doesn't make it a particularly good idea.

*This comes from a chap I know who's son suffers with schizophrenia. The son says that when you die you have 3 choices:
a: Go to heaven/Nirvana.
b: Return to Earth.
c: Or you can go to the 'planning room' to design lives that will help souls to learn.

It is a really interesting view.

regarding the catholic church

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApKNe89WyXHx6P23bFaYNzHsy6IX?qid=20070810114825AAii4ua

I should have included ALL religions as they are all flawed by human nature. I am sorry if I offended anyone.

The reason I picked the catholic church is because I think the pope thinks he is next to God and no human is even remotely close to being god on earth. The pope is flawed just like you and me. Again, I apologize for discriminating.

Don't get me wrong...breastfeeding is natural and beautiful. But so is sex and the naked body. I just don't want to see it while I'm eating lunch, you know? I wouldn't want to breastfeed in public cause that is a very personal thing in my opinion. Now I consider myself a liberal, but is my stand on this close-minded or practical? heh.

What do you think, what is your opinion?

The conviction and $1,500 fine for a street preacher who feels his calling is to share the gospel on the streets of Oslo, Norway, has been upheld by an intermediate court.

He was in the city's downtown area on June 29 and 30, and on the second day was arrested for delivering a gospel message, even though he'd been told by city officials he could exercise his free speech rights on the public sidewalks without a permit. He was released after a few hours, and fined 9,000 Kroners, about $1,500, then appealed, and the IHRG got involved.

He is a strong Christian brother who has a very definite calling to preach the gospel on the streets of Oslo – his hometown," Thornton said. "He preaches a very sound biblical message about the sin of man and the need to repent and turn to God through His Son, Jesus Christ..Thoughts?

For a long time now I have been debating which a believe in more. I was raised Presbyterian and was brought up to believe in Creationism. However now I am not so sure because I have just come to see so much evidence supporting evolution. I do believe in a divine power and the fact that something had to put life on our planet but am not so sure we were put here in our present form. I have never learned much about other religions views on life and would be interested in those. Also any reading material would be appreciated as well (have already read the bible). So any clearification on the subject would be greatly appreciated. Thank You in advance!

Why is it that latter day sints say that mormonism can and should only be explained by mormans?
and why has the book of mormon been changed over 4,100 times since it original publication?
and no where in the bible does it ask you to read it then pray to see if it is true. for exsample james 1:5 promices wisdom and knowlege not an inner feeling. in fact there are severail scriptures warning us of letting ourselves beieng decieved by our own inner feelings.

In a religious concept, you must believe that your religion is the only and best way to live life and must therefore spread the word. You must also believe that you religion has made you into such a great person that you must share it with others so they can share the great vision that you do.

Vanity works the same for atheists. You feel so strongly that there can't possibly be a god and that you *must* be right about this that you must change the minds of the misguided religious people.

Is vanity an inate human characteristic?
Is vanity enhanced when combined with views on or about religion?
