You really think that's going to affect Christianity? Isn't that pretty unrealistic? or are you just here to harrass and annoy? if so,then you are trolls by definition, aren't you?
Do be courteous. That's that way of talking where one doesn't use insults or verbal abuse.

They are here to annoy, mostly out of ignorance. If they truly knew what they were doing, it would be wiser for an Atheist to shut up then speak up. By them speaking up, this means there is a struggle within themselves to justify what they are saying.
Most are here out of moral strife, and nothing to do with whether they honestly believe their is a God.

I don't attack Christians. Why do you feel the need to generalize? Do you honestly think that all atheists are the same? I don't harass I may annoy but that can be done by stating my beliefs. Have I used verbal abuse I may have insulted without trying. I have read many posts that were insulting to me and this is among them grouping me with people who are just flat out rude. Maybe you should follow your own advice. Next some say why do some atheists. Obviously we aren't all the same just as you aren't the same as all Christians.

No - I don't think attacking ANYBODY on Y!A serves any purpose whatsoever.

I see that it does happen from time to time - but that's individuals from both sides attacking (believe me, it's not just a one-sided assault).

When questions are directed to atheists - it's up to atheists to answer those questions, no?? Just like when questions come up which can only be answered by Christians...

However, we're dealing with the INTERNET here - a faceless, anonymous society where people don't suffer any consequences for being rude or sarcastic or saying hurtful things to one another... yet people still get their feelings hurt and then turn around and continue the cycle. It's immature and irresponsible ... but it's just as immature to continue the cycle (or to make blind general accusations of a group based upon the actions of individuals)

I never attack a Christian. I attack the ideology that would promote a theocratic state, or would substitute dogmatic nonsense for science, etc.

Actually, as a person, YOU are the only thing I hold sacred. My presence here is meant to make it clear that we will NOT have the progress we've made in creating a humane, forward-looking world, destroyed by anti-human ideologies.

When your religious ideas cross over into policy, I paraphrase my Christian friends: I WILL LOVE THE BELIEVER, BUT I WILL CREAM THE BELIEF.

It probably shares the same purpose as Christians attacking atheists. It supplies an endless stream of reinforcement for agnosticism.

I don't think religious people can really talk when it comes to attacking people. Oh, and religion is on the way out, whether you like it or not. There are a lot more atheists in the world than you realise.

What insults and verbal abuse? I really don't see these attacks you are talking about. If you considering being honest about what we believe attacks, then you need a thicker skin. I have never set out to insult or verbally attack...only to share my opinions and views and to say why I believe them.

Do christians think any purpose is served by attacking atheist on Y/A?

Er, pay attention.
It's the Christians who are causing the problems here.

If the atheist attacks were to stop entirely, we'd still have at least 80% as many attacks here. If the Christian attacks were to stop entirely, this would be a decent place for religious discussion.

i don't think atheists have a problem with people believing in what they want to. thats not a big deal. it's when religion prevents science from being taught in schools and hinders society from moving forward. stem cells have the potential to help alot of people yet we can't perfect the science because of "religious morals". and then 2 million dollars+ is spent on a creationism musuem that'll put the wrong pictures in childrens heads. thats when i get upset with religion. i'd like to think that in most cases atheists aren't going around trying to force their opinions on others however i often see men in suits going door to door handing out pamphlets trying to convert people. i respect peoples belief, and i realize why religion was created and the purpose it served, however these days i feel like it does more harm than anything.

Not all atheists attack Christians on this site, and vise versa. Some are here for intelligent discussion. It isn't one's fault if others take it too far, or take it the wrong way.
