This is a valid question. It happens to me on a near-daily basis. I have noticed it is only Hispanic, namely Mexican men, that do this. **PLEASE DON'T TAKE OFFENSE; I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH MEXICANS IN GENERAL** Often these men will have children in the car. I find that to be very tacky. What are they hoping to accomplish by driving by and honking at me as I'm walking up the street? Is this meant to be a compliment? I am curious.

I answered one like this but about whistling and barking. It's obvious the guys like you and don't have the confidence in themselves to approach you to try and talk with you. So many times the guy will do this - and another possibility is that they do this because they are dogs. Then its usually a combo of both of the above. I have friends of different races who act in this matter, sad. I'm just glad I have and never will steep to anything this shallow & chicken-shyt. I have enough respect for women to approach them and talk to them as a gentleman.
Best ignore these folks. Maybe its in the area where you live/work. I haven't seen that in my part of town but in other parts I have (poorer neighborhoods).

My husband said that it is to get them to turn around so that they can see if they look as good going as they do coming. I have no idea.
They use to honk at me too. Well they still do from behind, or when I am sitting in the car. As soon as I stand up or turn around and they see my pregnant belly, they push down hard and fast on the gas pedal.

so i can flip the bird at them..and if they have kids..im sorry they see that...but i do that without thinking...
thing is i have no idea why they do that..i might be able to understand if i was pretty little thing in her late teens early 20s with a good body.
but im a large overweight woman in her late 20s and nothing to look at.
whatever...i guess even some men like unnatractive women too. wierd.

Like Rob said. The same reason us construction workers used to whistle at secretaries until the lesbi-feminists taught us it was wrong to whistle at their girlfriends.
Yes ignore them for sure. But ignore them obviously with a high chin, a flounce of the hair and a bit more wiggle, jiggle and bump in the walk.
They are not trying to pick you up with a bunch of kids in the car. They are going "Hey, You look Good! and if my wife was with me she would kill me for noticing."

Men seem to be attention deprived and need a woman to settle them down.
I agree, men should realize they aren't gonna get anything from anyone by honking like a loon.

Hey they do that to me to and I'm black...I guess they're pervs...I was running for cross country and I had my school shorts on and a tank top and they were honky like there was no tomorrow it gets on my nerves seriously...Yes and they usually do have their very young kids in the car,and if they have a teen aged son they look to it gross because I'm way under age

Anyone who does this is unbelievably stupid. Any girl who likes it is just as stupid. I wish I had a rock in my hand for everytime this has happened to me. I'd love to see how they like my opinions of their car put into an equal response. Keep your p3nis in your pants, and don't introduce it to the traffic lanes. The immaturity of it! You could be Brad Pitt with Johnny Depp in your passenger seat and I still wouldn't give you the time of day, but maybe my middle finger.

Anyone who thinks they can honk a horn "at" someone is stupid. Horns are non-directional, and they almost always get the attention of everyone in ear-short EXCEPT the one person you're trying to get to notice you!

Having recently purchased a new car, I frequently honk the horn because my old car's horn was broken. I just like the sound of it - plus it's new. Sorry if that was you I was passing by one on of my honks.
