I think it depends on the person and how they choose to incorporate how people treat them into their own path & life. For instance, I've never really believed in christianity, even though I was once a pretty strong christian. However, a long while back, something devastating happened to me involving the church I was attending at the time, and now (whether because of that or not, I don't know), I'm an Anti-Christian, so you could say that I may have already been on the path to Anti-Christianity, but you may also be able to say that what happened involving this church helped to accellerate me along this path.

Yes, unforunately. Childhood is the most important time. Studies have shown that children in orphanages who do not get touched or loved (are kept in cribs all day, by themselves) develop a behaviour called "learned helplessness." They carry this throughout their lives.

My Dad is another point in case. He was neglected as a baby and child under five, because his father was very ill (near death) and his mother went to work. He was left alone for very long periods of time. As a result, no matter what people said or did to him as an adult, he could never believe that he was loved (a fundamental human need in order to reach spiritual realisation). He never believed he was of any value (even though he did AMAZING things). He died by suicide, after a lifetime of extreme inner turmoil. He just could not resolve his inner conflicts. (But did the very best that he could!)

Most of us have heard this scripture: Prov. 22: 6 - Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

It expresses a fundamental (and scientifically proven) truth: the way children are treated DOES have a lasting and permanent impact upon their psyche, and also upon their ability to function in society, and to progress towards spiritual realisation. When a child has been so abused or neglected that they no longer have power to believe in anything, every action they "could" take for self-realisation is thwarted by their minds before it is even attempted. (Known as "self-defeating behaviours".)

While adults do have a measure of self-determination, how people treat children can make a very BIG difference to an adults ability to function IN THIS LIFE... and unfortunately we DO take some of those problems with our souls into the next one.

Every abuse/neglect will be addressed in the eternities, but it will all take time. We are all connected, and how we treat other people makes a difference to the salvation (ie spiritual realisation) of ALL of us.

It can be incredibly hindering...if you allow it to be. In my experience everything in live shapes your conception of everything else, but ultimately it is your personal decision what to take from each experience. Being treated poorly by someone of a certain faith, or by a groups of people who conform to a certain faith will generally turn someone against that faith no matter how solid it might be. Likewise, hearing negative press about a given faith, regardless of the truth behind it, can set forth a preconception of it that might subconsciously turn you against it. It's very hard to distance one's personal experiences with the reality of something beyond it. But it also depends on how much you personally understand about the spiritual path that you're following and what sort of searching you are doing in your own time. While most people need to have a camaraderie associated to their religion and enjoy group worship, it's best to find a solid personal foundation than to rely on others to validate or invalidate any expression of faith for you.

You have two choices: either let it roll of or let it eat you up.

If a person treats you kindly, you are more apt to treat them and others kindly.

But if a person treats you badly, it can set the tone for the whole day.

You are what you choose to be. Focus and stay on task and on path and no one should be able to get you off track.

Even being on the receiving end of negative thought, speech or action can be a valuable help along the path of realization. I believe the key is being aware of the opportunity to return that action in a positive and genuinely compassionate manner.

This is also known as practicing what one preaches.

(By the way. I don't always behave as such. But I mostly do try...)

Yes.
Bad treatment could drive them back or drive them into the light.
It depends on the path to enlightenment the person is choosing as to how the actors will play out their part of the drama.
All things work to the good of them that love the lord.
For instance go drive the freeway a bit. It's a great exercises in frustration that could remove any spirituality you have available if you give control of it to your ego or false self; or it could be an enlightening experience giving you an opportunity to let go of earthly concerns if you give control of it to your spiritual or true self.

Good Luck

It depends on the individuals progression. To be honest, how others treat them should not bother them, since once they make a turn and seek to know thy self, they should know that everyone will reject them. It's just what occurs, once you are not apart of the group mindset, not drawing from the world and its vices, people will notice this change and treat you differently. Many will come to you saying you shouldn't even worry about that stuff, which is the equivalent of telling you to go back to sleeping, or go back to being hypnotized by the shadows on the walls. Many will try to discourage you by telling you that what you seek is full of bullshit. You can take these things negatively or you can look at it for what it is worth, utilize empathy and greater understanding to perceive why they can't understand or why they are the way they are. Use their negativity as a gift for further progression, for they see things in reversal to what they are; to them while it is bad to seek spiritual acquaintance it is conversely good to seek worldly endeavors.

I have heard them all, been rejected by family, friends but I knew it would come, I was told it would come from the light within me and read of it in Yeshua/Jesus teachings, and I know all other great mystics said the same. Because to know the truth you must become possessed by that truth until you become it, its like a fire that blazes in your heart and it burns and burns there is only relief in movement towards the ideal, there is only complete fulfillment in knowing/becoming that truth.

Either you can receive their negativity and become less by it by your lack of capacity, mental constitution, or you can use what they have given to further yourself by using it as stimulus to draw within for insight (consciously in the way), or you can reflect their negativity back at them much like it is your choice to accept what they present or not, show them the reality of what they are doing, which will give them a moment of consciousness to review their actions (most of the time people are on auto-pilot). When the sober aren't drunk, they are no fun for those still in the habit of drunkened stupors.

Starting out as a newbie on a spiritual path, we still have some old habits with us. We, being immature spiritually, still let others, and what they think and how they treat us, get to us. However, as we mature, we reach higher and higher plateaus of spiritual awakening, and realize these things are of the worldly plane, and not the spiritual. Therefore, as a mature spiritual person, these things simply become unimportant.

However, on the path to spiritual enlightenment, as spiritually immature creatures, the things others do, feel, and say may get to us; but these same things ultimately lead to higher revelations and realizations as we grow in our spirit-person. Paramount among these is the ability to forgive, and love, unconditionally.

Jesus told us to love our enemies and those who persecute us. This sounds like an impossibility and pure absurdity to those who are thinking with the carnal mind; however this is not the case with those who have attained a higher spiritual consciousness. As we begin to see the world as a whole, and the cause and effect relationships in it, we begin to become more empathetic and loving towards those who are suffering (whether sorrowfully or using aggression against others) and our own personal troubles begin to fade into the background, as we begin to see others as people with very real problems and very real feelings. We begin to see their souls, and not just the exterior skin they live in. We begin to be to able to love the most unlovable among us...knowing we are all flesh and blood, stuck in this same environment, and subject to the same temptations and personal wounds.

So, the answer to your question is yes. As we spiritually mature our observations of other human beings, and human situations, teaches us how to become less self-centered and more loving towards others. Oftentimes we must go through trials and hardships of our own, Creator-induced, in order to achieve this amazing beautiful ability to give, and receive, forgiveness and unconditional love. However, as higher consciousness develops, we also become less and less concerned with how others perceive us; therefore not allowing what may have been hindrances in our early development to continue to be so in our higher spiritual state.

Well I feel some are brain washed into following their faith. I mean consider a region where there is one main faith that is echoed out loud for all the community to hear, and if you dare question it or doubt it out loud you could be hurt physically or disowned by all that you love. This would tend to hinder your searching for something else. lol
