These pursuits have been going on for years without anyone even thinking about them being dangerous. Now bemused parents have to sign forms acknowleging that donkey rides are dangerous before the kids can take part.Who first came up with this PC ,health and safety claptrap? He should have been strung up.Why can't we just say..No, we won't accept this stupidity any longer and go back to the good old days when boys climbed trees, grazed their knees and still got on with life.

While I was cooking fried rice today it was really hard for me to look at meat while it was being cut. I was able to cut carrots sort of. I thought I felt guilty for cutting fish (seriously, even back in the day during biology class when students disected star fish I couldn't even look and I felt like crying when people made fun of it or dishonored its death). I know this could sound silly to some of you but please have some respect. So I was wondering if Buddhists are even supposed to eat meat. I heard hard core buddhist teachings are against eating meat but don't plants reincarnate too?

I just wanted to know. This has been bothering me for a long time. Why don't non-christians believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins? there is evidence, and proof, besides the Biible that jesus exist.

Daniel 9:24 says the Messiah will come, die, and then the temple would be destroyed. Isaiah 49 says this Messiah will be rejected by the nation of Israel, but be a Light to the gentiles (non-jews). Isaiah 53 says this Messiah will be bruised, beaten, and killed, buried with the rich, and then have His days prolonged (ressurrection).

Jesus came, was rejected by Israel, killed, buried with the rich (which was a rarity for convincted criminals), and then rose from the dead, then the temple was destroyed. The jews have been without a temple now for around 2000 years! And now, 2000 years later, the Gentile world now worships the God of Israel because of this Jesus of Nazareth, the most influential jew in the history of mankind; the most influential man in the history of mankind.

There are hundreds of prophecies in The Bible, this is just one of them that is so powerful, it's undeniable.

I would love it as long as I was safe from humans because the animals won't hurt you. Several years ago, I read that several members of the Mohawk Nation in Upstate New York had returned to the wilderness to be one with nature.

I think fate is total crap. However when I think about this, it makes my head spin...

Exactly 10000 years from now, the state of the universe will be something. Call it State A. No one knows what State A is, but there will be a State A. So no matter what we do now, the universe will be in State A in 10000 years.

It's not fate, because people can do what they want, when they want, but is like we are all converging to the same point in space-time. Crazy.

Any thoughts?

I just posted a question, I live in switzerland.
You need to read the question first
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070801084110AAeuxIE&r=w

Some people said that you do not have any problems there, so how come do I keep seeing posts from you guys talking about how religion sould stay off of politics, and how your life is hell because of religious fondamentalism very present in your country?. SO what is the truth then?

Catholics, who is your favorite Saint, and why? My favorite (and my confirmation name) is St. Michael, because I used to get in trouble a lot when I was a kid, so I would pray for his protection (I still do!)
I guess my second favorite would be St. Anthony, as I ALWAYS lose things, and he has helped me find everything I asked him to help me find.

Not a Catholic? Well, does your religion have important figures such as these that may have an interesting life story? If so, put them! I'm always open to reading about different religions.

Why, when you are confessing a sin....do the elders want to know every intimate detail of it????

I feel out of the truth about a year ago, due to extreme depression(marital problems) and got into trouble...the elders never bothered with me before but as soon as they found out I was having an affair, they were hunting me down....even to the point of blocking me in at my place of employment...

They set up a time for me to meet with them and I went...I mean, I had to face my mistake...but still in the throws of depression I could not answer their embarrassing questions and because I couldn't I was expelled...

I'm not bitter...I know that this is a loving arrangment and the congregation has to be kept clean...but I want to know why they must know every single intimate detail of my wrongdoing?

p.s. I am now separated from my husband(who knows and understands why I did what I did) and have left the other man even though I still love him....

In general I would say that atheist energy seems grounded in the root chakra but because they are thinkers and skeptics, they also have concentrated energy in the third eye. In general I would say that many believers have concentrated energy at the crown chakra, less energy at the root chakra, but perhaps more energy at the heart and throat chakra. Is this clash of strong energy contributing to the conflict between believers and non assuming you believe in the chakras? Could we find common ground by balancing all of our chakras especially in the areas where we are either lacking or congesting energy? Is this why buddhist and energy workers seem more at peace with all communities? Thanks for your thoughts.

I see so many posts from Christians that say so many disrespectful things about Islam, but then get offended when Atheist do it to their religion...

I find it odd how many Christians are constantly saying how they are just so offended by the stuff that comes out of atheists mouths, but then turn around and make assumptions, fale statements, and just flat out rude comments about muslims.

You can't have it both ways. Either you want to right to say what you want about other religions, so you won't care how anyone else feels about yours...

Or, you respect others beliefs even if you don't agree, because you want the same respect back!

But please, stop boo hooing about atheist being on here and saying stuff to you guys, then turn right around and make comments like: Islam teaches you to strap a bomb to your chest. Muslim women are beaten and oppressed. The Qu'ran is fake, and Muhammad was not a prophet

Do unto others...
I'm sure you know the rest... It's from your book..

A wedding etiquette question
I am standing in my sister in-laws wedding. We are doing all the normal, throwing her a bridal shower and bachelorette party and then standing in the wedding. My question is do I buy a gift for her for everything even though we are paying for all the parties. I don't mind buying gifts but I don't have a whole lot of money so do I not buy one or look cheap with a cheaper gift??

Thanks in advance and please serious answers only.

I'd prefer if only Christians answer this question so it will be easier for me to choose a best answer. I'll ask this type of question again to people outside of our beliefs.
Thanx

In recent studies,Christian scientists, non-religious scientists, and Theologists have concluded that, utilizing the bible and its many references throughout history and its list of Adam&Eve’s descendants that mankind must be no more than 12,000 yrs old.Why is it that we've found fossils of men from 13,000+ yrs old? C. Dating isnt completely accurate, but there are fossils 100,000+ yrs old.

I’m not trying to debunk any religions,or prove science completely right, but this does bring up an interesting question to those who take the Bible literally.Obviously, most stories in the Bible are not supposed to be taken literally, but instead just pose with a moral background.Religion,in a lot of ways, gives simplified answers to those really sticky questions. But the fact is we fight with rage over who is right and wrong is just completely barbaric.Religion should just thrive to get us to be better ppl, help each other out,and feel secure in life.Simple as that.

How old is mankind?NOT the EARTH

My other question along with this is, about Adam and Eve, I find a hard time believing that there were not other people on the planet when they were put here. I mean wouldn't they have gotten here just like the rest of us? Because if they were the only 2 people on the planet at the time of creation, then um where did the rest of the population come from?

It seems to me that people who have beliefs in mysterious things tend to be more creative people. Atheists seem to me to be very interested in science and logic. Do any of you atheists have a creative side? Do you write, paint, dance or take part in other creative activities?

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity." -- Anne Coulter, Christian Peace Activist

Conquer,Convert or kill them.

"The three-in-one/one-in-three mystery of Father, Son and Holy Ghost made tritheism official. The subsequent almost-deification of the Virgin Mary made it quatrotheism . . . Finally, cart-loads of saints raised to quarter-deification turned Christianity into plain old-fashioned polytheism. By the time of the Crusades, it was the most polytheistic religion to ever have existed, with the possible exception of Hinduism.

This untenable contradiction between the assertion of monotheism and the reality of polytheism was dealt with by accusing other religions of the Christian fault.

The Church - Catholic and later Protestant - turned aggressively on the two most clearly monotheistic religions in view - Judaism and Islam - and persecuted them as heathen or pagan.

The external history of Christianity consists largely of accusations that other religions rely on the worship of more than one god and therefore not the true God.

These “pagans” (Islam and Judaism) must therefore be converted, conquered and/or killed for their own good in order that they benefit from the singularity of the Holy Trinity, plus appendages." -- The Doubter's Companion (John Ralston Saul)
