We already have one. The only problem is we don't have a huge platform to represent ourselves. Rallies and such wont help, But one thing will help: If we involve non-Muslims who are aware of the message of Islamic peace. Because the prevelant problem of non-Muslims seems to be that they think we hate them and want to harm that, which is not true.
Step One: Spread knowledge to individuals, if we can affect one person, we can affect a thousand
Step Two: Choose no leaders....Islam is not a tyrany but a choice of love and freedom
Step Three: Be unified in talking about terrorism and going against terrorist, by reaching other platforms
Step Four: Start small, in our schools, online, at work.. Going to talk shows (no joke).. I think talk shows are a great way to get out there.
While doing everything... remembering Allah and thanking him along the way. If we do this it should be for good intention, not to please non-Muslims, but for the sake of Allah and because we know what terrorists to is wrong. In order to take such a task we must try ourselves to keep strong in our iman and deen, pray all 5 prayers and do what Allah asks.... Because dua's are fullfilled most of those whom do what Allah asks.
and finally, have everyone join in with me in saying Ameen..
Ya Allah, Our guide, All merciful and omnicient.. Bless us with your mercy for we are lost. Bless us for we are but your slaves. Guide us through the good and bad. Oh Allah make our struggles easier..and test us to our ability to be tested. Ya Allah, make our iman and deen stronger, and help this Ummah to be amongst those who will enter in Jannah. Ameen!!!!
Edit~~
yes we know brother your not talking about online :-)

Assalamalikum,
Subhan Allah (All Praises to Allah)
This is a very impressive thought. I really liked how practical MoonLit Muslima's suggestions were.
Though was saddened by the fact that people here are waiting for a community to be formed and some talk about the name.
Let us all do our parts as Allah has shown as,
1. to make our din perfect, by reading and pondering on the Quran and Hadith.
2. To do good to others in the community.
3. Spread the teachings of Islam
At the end of each day, think about what you have done for
Firstly, to be closer to the Din and
Secondly, for the community
And most of all Trust in Allah!
Allah has power on all things.

Its a good idea. Unfortunately its rather idealistic and utopian. Many people (great leaders, several of them) have tried it before with their countries & religions and had success for a limited period of time (at the most during their lifetimes).
While it looks good in print, the problems crop up when one tries to deal with the basic differences in human nature, the need for all humans to acquire power, influence & money.
If you really want to know what can happen I recommend you read "The Animal Farm" by George Orwell. This book is a classic and can be read by everyone from school children to adults & each will identify with it as per their level of maturity.

I agree with Moon Lit Muslima. We are united but we are not represented. When Cartoons of our Beloved Prophet (PBUH) was drawn, we all stood as one in support of our beloved Prophet (PBUH). (I mean the peaceful protests by 99% of Muslims and not the 1% violent Muslims who always make mis-use of situations). So it is still something that makes some people devided in their thoughts. One may not be able to bring all of Muslims to think and accept a same way. I mean suppose if you bring a new group called 'Muslim Unity' will not be the solution. What we need is everyone in whatever Islamic label is striving for Allah's Deen according to Holy Quran and Sunna of Prophet (PBUH) should understand each other and be tolerant towards one another. Just like our Sheikh Khalid Yaseen Speaks. here. We need such Scholars from all people.

Why do you need to build a community to do this? Do you realize that if you build a strictly Muslim community, even though your intentions are good, all you will be doing is separating yourself farther from the rest of society? I think this would be a step in the wrong direction. If you wanted to fight terrorism wouldn't you be better served by forming a different sect of the Islam religion? By doing this you would be showing that you are different from the hate filled extremist found in the middle eastern regions of the world . As it stands now their is nothing that differentiates you from them because you all classify yourselves the same way. There is no way to tell you apart.
Edit - Omer
Do you realize that the terrorist could say the exact same thing of you. They can say that you are the one that isn't following the true Islamic path. This happens in the Christian community all the time. The Catholics claim that the Evangelicals are not true Christians. The Baptist claim that Mormons are not true Christians and so on and so on. Being a true Christian is beside the point They are all Christians, true or not, with a different interpretations. Since no one really can say that they truly know what happens after death, no one can really claim that their beliefs are superior. Even if they are not true Muslims, it is irrelevant because they are still Muslims by their interpretation. Do you understand what I am saying? If you took a peaceful Muslim and an extremist Muslim and stood them side by side, could the average every day non Muslim be able to tell them apart? No. This is why I suggested that may be the peaceful Muslims form a different sect. This in no way suggest that you change your beliefs, just certain things that could set you apart from the extremist Muslims, for instance the way peaceful Muslims dress or adopt a symbol that people could recognize as setting you apart. The only reason I suggest this is so that the average every day American could tell you apart. It would help to separate you and your beliefs from the hateful image that Islam has, because of terrorist, in a lot of people's eyes. The terrorist are not going to do this. Blending in with the peaceful Muslims helps them to spread terror. They want Americans to think the enemy is among them. Do you understand how this hurts your religious movements image? The reason I suggested this as opposed to the idea of a Muslim community is because a strictly Muslim excludes non Muslims. Is that what you are trying to accomplish? Do you honestly want to separate yourself farther from the non Muslims of America? I thought your goal was to be more accepted so that you could help fight against terrorism? By excluding non Muslims you are doing the opposite. My previous post had no hate in it what so ever. Even though I am strongly opposed to all religion, it was meant to be helpful. I appreciate your comments that, I am ignorant and full of hate. If you are such a peaceful Muslim why attack me with name calling and then go on to make judgments about me when you do not know me? This doesn't sound like someone that is peaceful. Have you ever heard, hate+hate=hate? How about next time when you think you are being attacked, ignore it. This will show you to be the bigger person . I should have known better than to try an offer an opinion that was meant to be helpful.

It sounds extremely wonderful!
After all terrorism is a major sin in Islam. The killing of ANY innocent is against Islam, as well as comitting suicide. We are also warned against Tyranny. Also, it would be a society where men and women are truly equal based on the Qu'ran, and cultural laws should not be invoked, such as "women cannot drive cars" as that was never in the Qu'ran. Education would flourish (for both men and women), and all food would be halal. Muslim women would not be forced to wear Hijab or anything, although it would be strongly advised, as man is not going to judge her, Allah is, and Allah knows her true intentions anyway. Forcing a woman to do anything is unislamic, and forcing her to wear her Hijab only means that she never wanted to in the first place, and Allah knows her true intentions. So no force will be involved. Above all, anyone can live there, including non-Muslims. The halal food will just not affect them, that is all. They will just have to disregard that it is halal, as it not harmful in any way (and actually healthier). Sounds like a great idea!
EDIT-- Lord Dra' Vek:
Ah, ignorance. Not surprising. Those "Muslims" who commit acts of terrorism are not true Muslims. They go against the Qu'ran in every way, yet claim that they are doing these things for Allah. Form a different sect? Ha! No Islamic sects condone terrorism anyway. So the only thing that differentiates true Muslims from those who commit violent acts of terrorism is that we are true Muslims who would never do such things and they are fake Muslims hiding behind a mask they like to call Islam Their actions would not be welcome in this community whatsoever; their actions are totally unislamic. And the only thing that differentiates you from us is that you are ignorant and hateful, we are not. Those types of people would not fare very well in this community we have in mind; they would not blend in.

100% with you, brother!!! I can’t wait to see all of us united against the misconceptions- already-spread - about us!!! It’s high time we should work together to help explain the message of Islam better. No, it was a high time a long ago.. But, we still have the chance.. We still have hopes.. We still have minds working for the best for our deen... We still have hearts dreaming for the best for our world.. the whole world...
But, yet, brothers and sisters, I like to remind you and myself as well with this wonderful aya:
“For Allah will never change the grace which He has bestowed on a people until they change what is in themselves: and verily Allah is He Who hears and knows (all things).” [Sûrah al-Anfâl: 53]
May Allah bless you all.

I don't believe in this sect thing, what are shias, sunnies and bla bla bla... just Muslims..
I dream of the day when someone asks a question directed to sunnies or shias, they reply back to him/her and say they are the same, no difference, and none of them exists, there are only Muslims here, with no sub-groups or names, just Muslims as God named us.
Isn't the name that God has given us enough, or should we add to it to be satisfied ????
