Catholics, who is your favorite Saint, and why? My favorite (and my confirmation name) is St. Michael, because I used to get in trouble a lot when I was a kid, so I would pray for his protection (I still do!)
I guess my second favorite would be St. Anthony, as I ALWAYS lose things, and he has helped me find everything I asked him to help me find.

Not a Catholic? Well, does your religion have important figures such as these that may have an interesting life story? If so, put them! I'm always open to reading about different religions.

Boy, that's a tough call. I always ask St. Francis and St. Roch for their prayers when one of my dogs is sick or acting up. But if something's lost and can't be found, then it's. . ."Tony, Tony, please come around!" (St. Anthony, finder of lost objects -- among other things.)

And St. Philomena's intercession has helped me through a lot of tough times, too. Her prayers tend to get answered in unusual ways, though, so don't be surprised if the answer you get isn't quite the one you expected!

But I think my all-time favorite saint is one of the North American martyrs, the Jesuit priest St. Noel Chabanel. He had a hard time learning the Indian language, and the life of a missionary priest was especially hard for him. But he made a vow to God to stay in Canada, no matter how difficult or distasteful the life was. God honored his vow, and he was faithful to death.

St. Noel is a great saint to ask for prayers when things are tough and you just want to give up. He knows how you feel because he's been there.

The Bible descibes all Christians as saints. We can have no communication with the dead, so praying to special saints is pointless. And another thing, God doesn't look kindly on the graven images in Roman Catholic Churches.

Jack Kevorkian

I'm an Atheist, so my equivalent of a Saint would just be a person whom I particularly admire for his selfless devotion to a good cause.
