Some christians say that the earth was created in 6 literal days, while other christians say that it was created in 6 non-literal days? The christians can't even agree among themselves, and they say that other religions are wrong!?

My mom says if your really a christain you will desire to read your bible and go to church. I dont though and I feel maybe im just in it because I want to go to heaven and im not really giving myself to god. I pray to him for everything, I trust him...ganit my actions dont seem to follow that. I have a strong connection with him...but am I just fooling myself?

I know we dont have to be perfect go go t heaven but my mom says 'again" that we will have a desire to change from our sins (i,e, stealing) and I dont really have a desire to change...I know what I am doing is wrong and im scared to death of getting caught but I really dont wanna give it up.

Seriouse anwers only please...I dont wanna hear you athiests (sp?) telling me it doesnt matter cause he isnt real....I KNOW HE'S REAL, Iv seen angels when I was younger so please dont share your sarcastic & pointless opinions.

The mormon's book of mormon references these animals being in the americas in biblical times. There's absolutely nowhere else that I can find a reference to these animals.

Why can't you all just get along and form one new, super religion or something? You all believe in the same god so why can't you just accept that and respect one another?

I don’t know about you, but I stumbled onto this website by doing a simply search for scripture. I clicked on the first one that popped up, which led me here. Looked around and thought this would be a great place to provide some supporting, uplifting encouragement to my fellow Christians.
I soon found myself tangled in this web of being offensive at times, caught up in silly debates and even trying to defend my Lord Jesus (whom which, does not need me to defend Him).
I’ve spiraled!

If you don’t mind:
How did you end up on Y!A?
What were your intentions?
Have they changed?

Thank you!

im still unsure if its right for me to do this. for the past 2 years ive been helping out with the classes. last yr i taught first graders 75% of the time. i love doing it, but in my heart, i am not fully reconciled with the catholic church. i believe in Jesus and all of that, but my relationship with him is very far from perfect. i pretty much believe in everything i am teaching the children, but at the same time i dont feel like im good enough??

i think im a good role model, the only thing im afraid i lack is spirituality. dont get me wrong, im comfortable teaching the kids, i find it wonderful and inspiring. im hoping being a catechist will bring me closer to God, but am i harming the children in the process?

ps~ the kids i taught seemed to have learned a lot and created a good catholic foundation.

all of them proclaim to know God's intentions? I would argue the most legitimate opinions about God's intentions are the most radical fundamentalists that interpret their holy texts literally. Think about it. The only basis one would have to know God's will is the holy text, as the religion it has created is based solely on that book. If somebody interprets it in any way other than the literal interpretation, what is there basis for doing so? My point here is to show that if you truly believe in God, it is very arrogant to proclaim that God doesn't really mean what he says. Furthermore, when people do this they are demonstrating that, in terms of morality, we are the judge of what is right and wrong. Our morality is based on our own intuitions of right and wrong, not what God says. If what is right and wrong was based on what God says, that would make murder, rape, and slavery OK if God says it is. Anybody else see a problem with that?

cause all angels are sons of God you can see it in the book of Genesis 6:1, Job 1:6 and 2:1, and all of them are messenger and servants of him (Hebrew 1:14), why he didn´t sent his more trustable and powerful of that sons, they are eternal, also they are superior to human beings also they have no sin and Adam was a created being like them in that case equally created by God as angels but with less power, why the most poweful being of the universe need to come to earth to save creature that are lower than his first sons, they sin came by a man induced by an angel not by an almighty God, it is not to much for just to little beings?

Why maybe he didn´t sent the first of that sons?

I'm an atheist, and as a result I fall into depression a lot knowing that after I'm done, there's nowhere to go to and nobody to ask for help. Sometimes I think that if if I were just another brainwashed idiot Christian or a Jew (more likely, my family is Jewish) or something, I'd be a lot happier and better off. Anybody else ever feel the same way?

Jesus is reffering to death as a sleep, no man know anything while he is sleeping. I thought u return to the state u were in before u were born, not a sleep of unconcsiousness or to go into a eternal sleep?. so death is both a nonexistance and a sleep or what!!!!

I love my wife, my dogs and nature more than I fear hell.
I have noticed Christians do not revere the natural world, as an eyewitness I see them use harmfull practices in there personal environment, kill animals that dare come into there lawn(Rabbits, snakes) that cause no harm.
Worst of all this belief that Humans have a superior soul to animals. I fantasize that when Christians die they have to return to spend a life as such an animal to repent there sin against nature. Is this a harmfull wish/spell or is it a growth spell?

I'm an atheist and have been for a while, but sometimes I wonder...

My friends say having God is like having a friend who always listens.
I don't care what religion, when I'm older I want to do something with philosphy. I want to answer questions about the world.

So go ahead. SELL ME YOUR FAITH! I want to know EVERYTHING.

Consider the Gospel of Mark (15:34): And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

As has been noted, "Allah" is a cognate to "El" and "Elohim" (or Eloha as a variant) in the Tanach, so we have Aleph (alif), lamed(lam),hei (ha) although most Arabic doubles the lamed and inserts an additional alif before the end like the Aramaic variant of Jesus.

Therefore, when Jesus prayed, he prayed to Allah. And although Christians treat Jesus as one person of the Trinity, recall John 14:6, "No one can come to the Father except through me." Thus, while Jesus is indesepnsible to a Christian's salvation, that salvation comes by invoking the name Jesus Christ to come into communion with the Father, Elohim/Allah.
