Yeah, I'm stuck working with her. She is really loud, opinionated, and always right. I'm so miserable!

When the kid gets a little older and is in jail, you can just smile to yourself.

Mother must know he stole it - she didn't buy it. Zip your lip, graciously excuse yourself when she begins to rant.

I hope the kid he stole it from, "stole" it back. Hehehehehehe.

Maybe I'm missing the point here, but am I correct in saying that the problem is not about the bike, the problem is the woman herself?
Don't wait, go right to HR and tell them the situation. You need to start a paper trail on this person ASAP. It is possible that there may already be some other complaints registered about her, if she is as obnoxious as you say. No one should have to put up with that type of attitude. It is actually a type of harassment. Do yourself and everyone else around you a favor... nip it in the bud now. Good luck!

Just tell her that the kid probably stole it back and to be glad nobody stole anything from her. Tell her to shut the hell up or just do something really shady and blame it on her.

I would say, well what goes around comes around. Then go get another cup of coffee. Or just change the subject to something more important, like work.

Or just don't say anything, or do anything. You didn't steal it, and noone can change it. Maybe if she doesn't get sympathy, she'll get the point!

Maybe the first bicycle owner just took it back. She should be lucky that he didn't call the police in the first place.

I am ussually straight forward with these type of people. However beware that people like this can turn on you quickly and suddenly makes claims of some kind of discrinimation (sexual, racial, religious). I would say your best bet is to just sit back and wait til she get's fired from her job due to her own merrits.

What goes around comes around. Pretty soon she will be taking up a collection at the office for bail money for the little b@stard!

Tell her she will be visiting her son in prison one day so she shouldn't worry about the little things now.

She is an idiot.

Honestly, I wouldn't say anything unless she directly asked you. It's really not your place, but you don't have to listen to her complaining either! Just smile and nod and excuse yourself when she says anything, but I wouldn't say anything if I was you, she'd probably just disbelieve you and get angry at you anyway!
