Jesus taught that his followers shouldn't swear oaths period.

Where's all that bright eyed frothing of the mouth support for this suggestion from the savior? He made this suggestion with the other suggestions like don’t lust etc…


Mat 5:33 “Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths you have made to the Lord.’

Mat 5:34 But I tell you, Do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God's throne;

Mat 5:35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King.

Mat 5:36 And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black.

Mat 5:37 Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

I wasn't taught wheater or not to like someone because of religion. I just assumed to be friends with who you want to be with. Comming on Y!A was the first time I ever EXPERIENCED someone being hated for religious beliefs.

i believe the reason i can't master the "th" is because i'm used to replace the "th" with the letters "t" and "d" like "thing= ting" but i know it is wrong and mainly it has to do with my ear, my ear can't distinguish between the letter D and the Th, is there any exercise or any way where i can fully hear the "th" sound and be able to recognize it and distinguish from the letter D and maybe the letter T but more of the letter D etc dere = there them= dem i can't seem to hear the difference any help?

I want to be volunteer for Salvation Army in Oakland, CA. Did anyone who work/worked there before? I didn't go to Salvation Army and ask for require to help because I have lots of questions about this volunteer job. Usually, how many work hours per week? some of the answers that have been given seem to be from that gateway website. i went to the link that someone used and it seems that the answers are being word for word. for the ones that are always using it, do you really need it or can you understand the bible w/out it? again im not trying to be funny but im wondering can you understand what your reading? i will admit there is still alot i dont understand but i search the bible till i find out what i need to know. if i still not sure then i ask questions to kinda get a confirmation on if im understanding, but i dont just quote from a website.

I have had recent intrusive thoughts. I'm scared this will affect my spirituality. Any advice? I feel guilty and the mare guilt I feel the more I think about the thought and I fear this will upset God, and will hurt my relationship with him. Please, any advice? Thank you so much.

After all, war is just institutionalized murder, IMO.

Does a king or president have some sort of Divine Right to over-rule the Fifth Commandment simply by formally declaring war? If I first declare war on my neighbor, is it then OK to kill him?

I think this pretty much sums up the state of Islam in the world today....the Islam that God gave us in the Quran and that our prophet taught is has no similarity to what the world is being presented with today on the nightly news and in the propaganda preached to us from the minbar in soooo many mosques across the muslim world.

Islam is being abused and corrupted from without and far worse, from within.....all because from the moment our prophet passed from this life all his hard work was pretty much put on the back burner and the old ways once again took control...business as usual as the saying goes.....

i believe Islam will continue to have a negative image until enough "good men/women" stand up and refuse to remain silent against those that want to destroy its peaceful message...that includes muslims themselves that claim to be scholars, imams, leaders of any kind and yet all try and preach unIslamic priniciples disguised as Gods word.

When will you say enough is enough?
