Firstly, to become a Freemason you need to ask. Freemasonry is not and has never been an invitational order. It is against our constitutions to solicit new members.

Secondly, Freemasonry is not a following, it is a fraternal organisation where like minded individuals come together on a regular basis. It is not like a religion, a cult or anything of that sort.

To cover some of the falseties in the previous answers:

Freemasonry is not a secret society. The secrets of Freemasonry are concerned with its traditional modes of recognition. It is not a secret society, since all members are free to acknowledge their membership and will do so in response to enquiries for respectable reasons. Its constitutions and rules are available to the public. There is no secret about any of its aims and principles. Like many other societies, it regards some of its internal affairs as private matters for its members.

The Da Vinci Code shows nothing of the Masonic order that is relevant to being a member or joining. Its a story, fictional.

George Bush, in fact neither Bush's, are or were Freemasons.

Regarding Blazek's answer, Freemasonry lacks the basic elements of religion and therefore

a) no theological doctrine, and by forbidding religious discussion at its meetings will not allow a Masonic theological doctrine to develop.

b) It offers no sacraments.

c) It DOES NOT claim to lead to salvation by any means.

As to the agenda of Freemasonry, there isn't one only the three principles onwhich the order was founded and continues to work on today which are:

Brotherly Love - Every true Freemason will show tolerance and respect for the opinions of others and behave with kindness and understanding to his fellow creatures.

Relief - Freemasons are taught to practise charity and to care, not only for their own, but also for the community as a whole, both by charitable giving, and by voluntary efforts and works as individuals.

Truth - Freemasons strive for truth, requiring high moral standards and aiming to achieve them in their own lives.

Morals and Dogma is not the guildlines for Freemasonry, it isn't even about Freemasonry and it's author is hardly even heard of outside his own jurisdiction. It is on the Ancient & Accepted Scottish rite, a side order to Freemasonry (not superior) The reference to Lucifer by Pike is nothing to do with God, or the false labelling of Satan as Lucifer that most uneducated Christians try to portray. Lucifarian is the seeking of knowledge. Knowledge was considered "light" and any one who has any sense would know that Lucifer is the translation of the Greek name for the PLANET VENUS.

People become Masonic members, not "followers". Try to find someone in your area who is a Freemason, and talk to him, or contact your local lodge. The age requirement varies by area, and you must profess belief in a Supreme Being. Click here for more details about becoming a Mason:

if you knew what their agendas are, you wouldn't join.
it is compartmented, like a pyramid, the bottom thousands don't know what the level above does, and so it goes on until the top where a few men dictate to the lower levels, and each level tells a different story of what is happening. It just uses you, if you get to a high enough level.
otherwise, the 3rd level, master mason, is fine.
if you go higher(or laterally as it is) you can achieve 32nd degree. But you can only get 33rd if you are selected, usually you must be in a position to cause influence in politics or business. Most don't go beyond 32.
Watchout.
Also, their gods are egyptian gods osiris, horus, and demon god jahbulon.
hence the all-seeing-eye of horus/satan and their phallic worship of obelisks

Guidelines for a mason is a book called MORALS AND DOGMA written by Albert Pike. One of the fathers of Freemasonry.
He will tell you in his book that the god of freemasonry is Lucifer.
Lucifer is the Grand Architect of the Universe.
Does it sound appealing.?

A.Ralph Epperson in his book CONSPIRACY AGAINST CHRISTIANITY writes on page 182.Masonry IS a religion:the religion of Lucifer!
Epperson also writes on page 145.....Because his book (Pikes MORALS AND DOGMA) is not intended to be read by the public. And his fellow Masons are being "intentionally mislead with false interpretations" so they will not know the truth.

Please don't do it, it is a cult. That is not the way to salvation. If you are looking for an answer to life, commit your life to God and you will find peace and contentment. God is all you need. I have been a Christian for along time and He is the answer to all my needs. I really appreciate that He is my all in all. I would have it no other way.
