Jesus is reffering to death as a sleep, no man know anything while he is sleeping. I thought u return to the state u were in before u were born, not a sleep of unconcsiousness or to go into a eternal sleep?. so death is both a nonexistance and a sleep or what!!!!

Before we were born, we were non-existent, so technically we do return to the same state. When we die, we cease to exist. The only thing that is kept "alive" is our thoughts. Once we are resurrected by God, these thoughts are brought back to us. Our thoughts are the very essence that makes us existent..."I think, therefore I am."

I offten wonder the same thing and I have asked questions similar to this on here before and someone alwasy seems too have his or her own answer. I often wonder if it'll be like when we weren't born. We weren't even in state of mind or being we just didn't exsist. I have just learned to think what I want to think and go to church and be happy and live my life and eventually I'll get old and wise and the answer will come to me. Just keep doing what your doing and be happy and live life to it's fullest because the truth is that Nobady really knows what we have in store or what lies on the road ahead.

For earth creatures, life begins at conception.
Death is the complete cessation of that life.

Jesus just used sleep as an example,
to illustrate that the dead are nonexistant,
(except in the memories of the living)
& therefore not concious...

"His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground;
In that day his thoughts do perish." --Psalm 146:4

"All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in She′ol, the place to which you are going." --Ecclesiastes 9:10

Jesusused a lot of examples --using things the people were very familiar with-- to help them grasp many ideas...

Read the bible for the first time.
Jesus never said death is an eternal sleep.not there.
Read what the bible says:

Luke 16:19-31
John 5
Mark 9
John 3:15-21
Rev 18-22
Matt 24-25
Malachi 3-4

Those that are born again (baptized in the name of "Jesus", and filled with his spirit (spoke in other tongues, as the spirit of god gives utterance), who kept the faith and have finished their course have the luxury of "sleeping" in christ. But, if you are an unregenerated man (unbeliever) you will experience true death. This is to be forever seperated from the Lord and cast into outer darkness (hell). Get your bible and read Acts 2:38. Then pray and ask the lord to lead you to a bible based church. I don't care what anyone else tells you. THIS IS TRUE. I am a believer. God is real and he is coming back again. Trust me, God's not jokin, and hell is still smokin.

Real death is what you described. The "sleep" is as much a fantasy as jesus himself.

Look the bible is just a dumb book written along time ago...no good kind creator is going to kill his offspring with ever lasting fire....if you want to believe in an evil sick creator like that go ahead but it really is sad.

sweetie, you can create your own chaos and find it spinning out of control if you focus on a few words instead of what your instincts, your emotions and your faith tell you...don't worry about what lies after death; just live your life according to your conscience and you will be happy
