I thought I was being courteous because it's hard to find people in my field around here, so I gave extra notice - but 2 weeks into it they said that I have 2 weeks to get out. Should I get angry and sabotage? (I wanted to even if I stayed) ;)

ok so you will argue that like a painting, was created we know this because it is here, and therefore must have a creator the painter as it where but then what created god, I often here the answer 'nothing' or 'god is and has always been' but if god is so great that he can do all these things control space time etc etc etc then is it not conceivable that the universe doesn't need a creator if the universe pails into insignifigance compared to god who has no creator is it that hard to see that this universe does not need a creator at all?

I understand that not all christians think like this but either way I really do want to hear your take on it

People do it whether or not the person asking the question actually believes in the diety in question, so it doesn't seem to be just stubornly trying to convince people...

Do any of these EVER get chosen as a best answer?

Have any of these ever helped anyone with their question (which is usually determining exactly what a given group of people, other than atheists, believes)?

Have these ever convinced anyone of God's nonexistance?...

It just seems so unproductive, but so much of it happens it bewilders me....

(For the record, I am an atheist and am just refering to answers that make the statement with no humor, support, or relation to the question)

As a christian I believe in loving your neighbor (not in a lustful sense...)

I believe you should feed the hungry and clothe the poor.

I believe you should take care of the world that YHWH gave you to live in.

I believe we should be responsible with the resources we are blessed with (animals, trees, the earth et al)

I believe that a lot of people have a decent sense of what is right and what is wrong.

I believe everyone deserves love. Even the most despised person deserves love (though I admit it is hard to do sometimes with some people.) It is the human thing to do...

I believe that a lot of people have good ideas (not just christians)

I bleed red just like everyone else on this planet.

I cry tears like everyone else on this planet.

How about Buddhists, Pagans, Muslims, Atheists, etc. anything in common?

In Exodus, chapter 20, we read the Ten Commandments, and are told that we should not commit adultery. Adultery however is not defined as simply having sex outside of marriage. It's defined as having sex with a married person. Nothing is said to prohibit sexual relations between two unmarried people. In fact, if we look in the book of Leviticus, we are given a list of every situation in which we should not have sex. We're not to have sex with married people, or with family members, or with animals. We are not, however, prohibited from having sex with an unmarried person who is not in our family.

Some places in the bible, such as Mark 7:21, state that "fornication" is a sin. Christians like to interpret that as meaning "sex outside of marriage." It's not true. The Greek translation identifies "fornication" as being any "illicit (illegal) sexual activity." However, as we saw above, God did not mention sex between two unmarried people as being illicit.

How is it possible to say that this verse calls for terrorism?

Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits, for Allah does not love transgressors. 2:190

Look at the words. It says to fight those "who fight you". It says to fight only when somebody is fighting you. It doesn't say to whip out a weapon and start fighting for no reason. It says to defend yourself. It also says not to go overboard. Just defend yourself.

Can you please tell me why this is commonly quoted as a call to kill any unbeliever?

Okay I've been reading my Bible alot lately and focusing alot on Galatians I wonder, how could anyone think that salvation is through our on works? So, reading on and on in Galatians 3, it was completely spell out to me that salvation comes through faith. The Bible spells this out so clearly in another verse, that every Christian must have heard.

It goes like this: "By grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God, NOT of works, lest any man should boast.

So I say this, anyone on the other side of the fence in this issue, please put forth your Scriptures, that say you should work to get your salvation.

It funny to me to hear the comments on Answers on how you don't believe that there's a God and how we, Christians, waste our time believing. Isn't it kind of funny that you too...atheist...believe also, that there isn't a God. Seems like a 50/50 chance to me!! Anyways....lets say.....that the bible is true....heaven and hell are true....and there is a God. The funny thing is....you find out to late.....and your standing before a God you didn't think existed.....should He still accept you into heaven or should you be banished to the lake of fire to spend for eternity?? What if (which I know it is) the bible is true and you were deceived the whole time??
