Sometimes you have to choose the battle. If someone never backs down in an argument, it is better left alone.
What do you mean by "Pharisee"? Could you explain please? Is he a follower of Judaism(Pharisee?) Thank you.
Sometimes, it is better to pray to the Spirit to reveal the light and awareness to the topic of Contention(or argument like you say) between both of you. Rebuking, arguing, or making someone think or make them feel they're wrong are approaches to put someone DOWN. Godly way of doing thinsg are approaching someone with act of Love, acceptance. or let them find the information independently on their own.

Hey Tommy Oliver,
*First i would appeal to him as a believer. Particularly if he is older than you. Paul instructs Timothy on this in the book of 1 Timothy.
*Secondly you need to speak the truth in love. i think the key is that you want him to correct his behavior so he'll be more Christ-like and i know in your frustration of seeing his attitude and actions- it's really easy to handle the situation that makes you un-Christ like.
*If it is a sin issue and he does not feel the need to change his way then you bring another witness.
i would advise you to pray and try to do it in a setting that is private- i think in some ways you've already erred a little bit by asking this on a public forum. But i know you just want to do what's right and i'll pray for you. Feel free to email if i can help you in any way.
Hope that helps!
Kindly,
Nickster

when we admit it is the the Holy Spirit who convinces us of sin, then we have to work with Him. It is best to ask Him if you can be of assistance in the matter you mention.
If your brother is a pharisee, then I would get ahold of the sense of those sayings of Jesus which he spoke to convict them...they are living words (not to be used lightly).
Why are you asking questions among the dead? There is nothing good here that is not in the Lord where you are.

if he is a pharisee, then he is not a christian. it was the pharisees that crucified Jesus. dont argue with him. it said to advise a man once after that have nothing to do with him. i need to go back and find this scripture again. he's not gonna take your correction it will just lead to more debate or strife.

Whoop his ****...
If he doesn't back down in an argument why bother arguing with him? The best approach is to get others together who see the need to rebuke him and confront him together.
That is if his argument is something that is clearly wrong...
At any rate - I felt like being feisty. I would probably just agree to disagree unless it was something plainly in error.

Not your job. You can share your insight, if you can find a loving and humble way to do it, but beyond that, prayer is probably your best tool. If Christ came not to condemn the world, why do self-righteous so-called followers of Christ see it as their job? Be careful here, that you don't 'try to remove a speck from a brother's eye, while you have a board in your own.'

First pray about it and ask the Holy Spirit to give you the words and the timing. Then go to him and be honest and the the Spirit lead you. Do not argue with him. Just give him the facts. If he starts to argue then let him know that that is not what you want that you want to talk about it like adults so he needs to listen and then he can have his turn!

Rebuking doesn't sound like Christian brotherly love.

why are you arguing with him in the first place? when did Jesus do that? He only told the people what they did was wrong and left it at that. Learn from Him.
