Holy means good.

Gospel means good news.

Anima means soul.

so many different names leads to confusion....

Bible is simply the english translation of the Greek word Biblios. It means book. The word Holy in front of the word Bible makes it a Holy Book. I really dislike the way people turn into Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth. It sounds very uneducated.

Dear ironie83,

The word Bible literally means book: But the B.I.B.L.E. (Basic Instructions) is an acronym that is a pretty good description of what the Bible is.

The Bible is God revealing Himself to man as to how to have a relationship with Jesus Christ and how to have eternal life. The Bible reveals to us who God is at whatever age we read it. We can learn about God in other ways- but the Bible is wonderful because it helps us to know whether the things we are learning about God are true.

There are Bibles in many languages and some people have devoted their lives full time into translating Bibles into other languages so people of all languages, tongues, cultures, can know the wonderful message about Jesus' love for the world.

One thing that the Bible teaches us is that we can never have done anything in our past that keeps us away from God's love. And that God is a just God so for those who are illiterate, etc., God finds ways to show Himself to them, i heard of a blind lady who loved God so much she learned to read braile with her tongue.

God's Holy Spirit helps the believer to understand-- God's word and also that's a big reason for people to go to church, attend bible studies, and study the Bible for themselves.

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

God give instruction by any means possible. It is his intent that no one Parrish. He wants every man or woman to have eternal life....But still if one wants to seek God. He knows he feels...can he pray? As long as there is life there is hope. It is God that draws us and calls us into the perfect life of liberty.

Luke 16:19-21 Lazarus and the rich man...the man was a beggar and ate crumbs from his masters table,so he suffered in life...yet he went to heaven and rest in Abraham's bosom. God does give everyone their just reward. Yet the rich man went to hell, did he not care or notice the beggar. We have to be made aware, because we live in danger of neglecting others God sends in our path. Did he notice the dogs licking his sores under his table. Yet he wanted the man to dip his finger in water to cool his tongue! Still was arrogant after all that time! Never gave God our man a thought. Stated can you send someone to tell my brothers so they will not come here..at least he thought of his kin...response was if they did not believe Moses, why would they believe someone that came back from the dead?

Ecclesiastes 12:1
Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, "I find no pleasure in them."

I think that the Bible tends to improve literacy because it encourages integrity, which I think helps the brain to pull all the bits and pieces together that are necessary for literacy. It also advocates for praying for the fruits of God's Holy Spirit, which are love, joy, peace, goodness, kindness, mildness, faith, long-suffering and self-control. (Galatians 5:22, 23)

The reality is not a language, not a word, not a practice, not a sense, not a book. so even you are not understand whatever language, whatever sound to you, you still know what the reality is. Bible, sutra, veda, kooran, all garbage. since you are landing other coast, why still carry the boat?

You don't have to read the Bible to know about Christ. All the Bible really is anyway is a genealogy, life, and teachings of Christ.
Christ is not "stuck" in a book someplace. Christ (the spirit of Christ) is still moving in this world. I can't believe some of you don't feel that.
Don't you feel it?
