It was the law that was fulfilled...we no longer keep the ceremonial law but the ten commandments are still as true today as they ever were...Keep them...

Read Matthew 5:17 then 22:36- 40. Also, some of the Old testament laws were specifically addressed and replaced. Compare Leviticus 11:7 and Acts 11:7-12. That said, it would be hard to please God without following most of the commandments, old or new testament. So what John wrote in Revelation is certainly true.

I think we need to separate the Commandments, given in the Mosaic Law, from laws such as those regarding cleansing rituals, dietary laws, etc.

The cleansing rituals were to show us that we could not be "clean" enough to enter God's presence without a mediator. The dietary laws were practical health protocols for that time, when they were unable to keep and prepare foods properly (ie pork=trichinosis). Animal sacrifices pointed the way for Christ's atonement.

That being said, we have no need for the dietary laws in this day and age and the laws that were in place to teach us spiritual truths regarding our fallen condition and God's remedy, were fulfilled when Christ came. That is why Christ said he did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it.

At the same time, Jesus never advocated throwing out the 10 commandments, rather He says that the commandments can be summed up in two points: love God and love your neighbor. In doing these two things, we abide by the commandments which all fall under one or the other umbrella.

Jesus never said to not keep the commandments. Period. What you are confusing, I think, is that before Jesus came, man lived under the law, all Jewis laws, and the requirement for atonement was to keep all the laws and commandments PERFECTLY, which proved no human can do. That is why Jesus was sent, to atone for our sins and live the sinless life that He lived. So, some religions, not all, seem to only go by what is written in the New Testament (their theory is only read what Jesus said, and not read Old Testament). They forget that (or ship over) the verses in the New Testament, where Jesus said to "obey all commandments". This means one would have to study the Old Testament as well, or not know what the commandments were. That is not logical to overlook the Old Testament and only read the New Testament. "Law", stictly speaking, refers to other than the ten commandments. Under the "law", mankind was commanded to offer burnt offerings of lambs as atonement for our sins. But under new law, if you will, Jesus became the lamb of atonement for all our sins, so when He looks at a Christian, God sees the blood of Jesus and we are seen as sinless in His eyes, when we ask for forgiveness of our sins.
Upon becoming a Christian, we become His children, and are living under Jesus' atonement for our sins and therefore, do not have to offer sacrifices. HOWEVER, WE ARE SUPPOSED TO STRIVE TO FOLLOW THE TEN COMMANDMENTS AS BEST WE CAN, PER HIS TEACHINGS.
The commandments never ended with Jesus. He said Keep his commandments. Because He knows we never can, being mortal, He gave his life for us, therefore, we ask forgiveness when we realize we have sinned and we are forgiven because of the cross. I hope this helps.

The commandments were not ended, they were fulfilled with Jesus Christ.

In Revelation 12, "the woman" mentioned is Israel, and her seed would naturally be Jewish, and therefore still under the Law.

In Revelation 22, it is a reference to the Great Commandment in which the whole Law is fulfilled.

He would be in true sorrow as God is now over all of this. Grace does not cover deliberate, willful continuing sin. This is a lie of the devil. Sin leads to death, and that did not ever change. Because of Jesus death, we can be forgiven, and He gives us the power to overcome sin. Obedience leads to blessing and disobedience leads to curse. this is all thru the Bible. And, we should want to Obey God, as we know only HE knows best for each of us. Jesus sacrificed unto death for us, and the least we can do is love Him enough to obey Him. The gift of salvation is free, but accepting that gift is conditional. Cuz, God says we must love Him, and HE says if we love Him, we will obey Him. SO, if we arent willing to obey Him joyfully, we are only giving lip service to save us, and it wont work. God knows our hearts, minds, motives and all that we do.
To get into Heaven, one must be living a holy , pure life of obedience, there is no other way, and in living that kind of life you can have a slice of heaven right here on earth while waiting for heaven. True Kingdom living right here and now. Jesus gave us the power to overcome, and if one doesnt think they can, they wont even try.
Lets get out the good news, and to boldly tell the world that grace will not cover continued, willful sinning. Didnt God say GOD FORBID to that?? YES.
WE are to turn from sin, repent and not go back. and what a priviledge, because if we cant obey, what do we have to give to the nonbelievers.?? Dont we have to show them what God can do for us, to be able to show what He can also do for them? God bless you for your question and the truths therin. You truly love the Lord and you will be blessed. a ctually you are already blessed, as you know God, but you will receive more. Cant wait to get to Heaven to meet you.
