Having grown up a catholic, I've experienced this first hand.

It took many years of peeling back the layers of the onion before I could finally view existence free from the pressure of religious dogma.

Once catholism and organised religion were discarded, the yoke of christianity itself was a burden to seeing a clear picture.

When I realised there was no evidence for Jesus existing at all, and certainly no sense to concept of him being the son of god, I then had to deal with the whole creator bit.

I studied many different faiths looking for something that made sense.

After a few years as an agnostic with pantheist style ideas, it suddenly dawned on me that it was ALL nonsense.

No soul, no afterlife, no supreme entity of any sort.

The barriers were finally all gone!

None of them had ever made sense, yet they were so hard to remove.

The sense of freedom was just magnificent..........and still is.

Do theists have any idea what they're missing?

All so-called "Atheists" want to do is eliminate freedom of speech, and freedom of religion, and make their little warped society that of the world.

You people have no business here.

Don't tell me about about the age of of rocks on the earth. The science is controversial on this point and therefore mute to creationist. Don't waste time writing about the so called big bang theory. The more you attempt to validate the big bang "theory" the more evolutionist become creationist. It really doesn't make much since even among modern scientists today. This is a fact.

Don't speculate about an excess of electrons over anti-electrons and quarks over antiquarks and matter over antimatter that survived to form light atomic nuclei out of which life would arise. Please don't tell me we all got here by a tremendous lucky fluke.

Ok. I am waiting for some intelligent answers and not the old theories that crumble like ropes of sand.

Give me something testable for the origin of life. I am a man of "FAITH"! I strongly believe without a shadow of doubt that this intelligent world is not a fluke. One of these day each will have to be accountable to GOD! Genesis 1:1.

Has anyone ever heard that in the late18th century that people sat up when they were sleeping b/c it was better for their health? I was watching Cities of the Underworld Monday 6/25/07 and they were in a bunker in Philidelphia at Fort Miffin. The guide said that the reason the beds were so short was not b/c the people were short but b/c they use to sleep sitting up b/c they thought it was better for their health.

For retirement celebrations, I've seen numerous references to catching or a catch. Like, Join us in catching Mike and celebrating his retirement. and "who's got the big catch?" Where does that "catch" reference come from and what does it mean?

I was thinking about Religion the other day, and thought, 'Which story seems most realistic?'. In my religion, Catholocism, we believe that Christ was our Saviour and was born under a Virgin. This seems unlikely, but which seems more likely?

Many will say "Yes" but the answer is "No"

Faith is Believing "Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence."
In Rom 3:20, Rom 3:28, Rom 4:3, Rom 5:1 and Rom 4:5.
it tells us that we are Justified by Faith

In James 2:24 and James 2:26. It tells us that we are not justified by faith alone.
One may think that this is Contradiction and most don't pay attention to these scripture.

What did John Mean?

James is simply saying that if you ‘say' you are a Christian, then there had better be some appropriate works manifested or your faith is false. This sentiment is echoed in 1 John 2:4 which says, "If you say you have come to know Him, yet you do not keep His commandments, then the truth is not in you and you are a liar."
Apparently, there were people who were saying they were Christians, but were not manifesting any of the fruit of Christianity. Can this faith justify?

Which is it? Are we justified by faith or by works?

Christians today thrive on being persecuted and they voice their opinions stronger and louder when the small minority (those that believe in nothing) speak out for whatever reason. Why waste time as an Atheist to discredit when it only makes it that much more miserable for yourselves? I can put up with Atheists all day long--many of them are much better people than those who just call themselves Christians. I just wanted to let those that believe in nothing know that they actually are a stepping stone for Christians. If this is just a game for you, then I hope it is fun cause I will play as long as you like. I will try my best not to belittle you for your non conviction for anything accept nothing and will show you that there is a reason for being here and it is not to see who dies with the most toys, or who wrote the best book, or who never killed anyone and is thus a good person.

The vast majority of scientists (99.99999%) recognize the truth of evolution and the falsehood of religion. When you talk to a scientist about religion, you often get a response which deserpately tries to avoid condescending language while talking to a person of substantially lesser intelligence. Its not easy.

I dont advocate any limitation on the freedoms of religious people (with the exception of maybe Muslims) but If humanity is to move forward, I think its important for the scientific community to finally grow a pair and declare religion a position of the dumb.

How do women feel about being refered to as "helpers" in Genesis? It seems to imply that women were created as nothing more than man's servant. Response?

I know that not all white people feel this way but I was reading an article about the increase of black enrollment in higher education due to public assistance, and some of those in the forum were incredibly angry. I personally think that most things today have to do with class rather than race but I don't understand why some white people get so upset about affirmative action tactics...is it not enough that to be born white, male, and wealthy in America is a ticket for success? We all like to believe that we live in a meritocracy but it just isn't true.

Why do some whites feel so threatened? They are the MAJORITY, always have been and probably always will be. The civil rights movement was only about 50 years ago when EVERYONE started getting equal treatment...how can 50 years compete with over 300 years of whites being able to succeed without someone trying to tear them down?

I'm not racist, just stating facts...
