But what does baked mean? Im not referring to baking in the oven or sun baked, but i saw this this thing on the internet about being baked the night before and i think it has to do with drugs but im not sure. I know it sounds stupid, but im just curious.

There is no intent to be offensive with this question. It is a simple matter of curiosity. Please don't use this thread to bash others who feel differently than you.

I am a viewer (not sure if I'm a fan yet) of the HBO series Big Love. First off, I am interested in the perspective of a true Mormon. Is it accurate? Offensive? Or maybe just too off the wall? I would love to hear all of your opinions.

Second, I also need your help with some issues brought up in the show. I don't understand why the folks at the compound are always so scared of being "outed" to the police. I know that pologomy is illegal in all states. But what is to stop people from living that lifestyle? Legally, I could have one wife, but have several other women with whom I shared my home. I know this would offend many people, but I just don't see how I would be breaking the law?

I'm not trying to stir up controversy, or bash or anything like that. It's an honest question.
My Dad's side of the family is Church of Christ, but I don't feel comfortable asking them about it, so I'm asking you.
When did your church/denomination come into existance? Who founded it?
I'm a Mormon convert, and early on in my conversion I heard someone mention once that an early member of our church was excommunicated and later formed your church. But since I only ever heard this once, I don't know if it's true or not. There does seem to be some similarities between our two faiths, and I was just wondering. The person that told me this was just a member and trying to give me some history on our church. Nothing disparaging was mentioned about your church, but it's stuck with me all this time because of my family who are devout Church of Christ members. The man's name who I was told left our church and formed yours was Sidney Rigdon, and it would have been in the middle of the 1800's.

I have a fear of rising flood waters, I don't know where it came from, probably my childhood. I cannot imagine what these people are going through. I have tried to visualise 3 ft of water in my living room and it terrifies me. I would love to help them but don't know how.

Do you start off by saying "For me"? Or do you assume that your way of thinking is right for you and therefor right for everyone?

"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.'
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

Does that mean that if a married man looks at an attractive woman and thinks, "Mmm, she's hot!" that he is cheating on his wife? If a married woman has the same reaction when she sees an attractive man, is she cheating on her husband?

What about people who aren't married? Is it a sin for them as well?

Christians only, please. If you're going to answer with something like "Don't believe it because there is no God," then don't waste your time answering.

Please don't tell me it's 6 months >_< because I'll have to go hurt myself.. that'd be $100 down the drain.. My (now diseased) uncle gave me a $100 gift card for Christmas.. and if it's past the expiry date, I'm going to feel even worse then I already do right now. Stupid procrastination.. >_<

By the way, if you tell me this is in the wrong category, I couldn't figure out which one to put this question under.. so I went with the top suggested category..

What do you do about people at work who are overly religious on a daily basis? For example, I work in a 20 person office, and there are several evangelical christians who are always going around saying things like:

"This country WAS founded on christianity!"
"Prayer DOES work!"
"I put god before anything else!"
"Prayer NEEDS to go back into our schools, or we are lost!"

Etc., ad nauseum.

I can't be blatant about my atheism, else I could be fired, but it is not a religion-based job, just non-profit. In theory they have non-discrimination policies, but...
