I was hoping to do something simple - like a 30 minutes gathering around lunch time once or twice a month - hopefully more then just people who already believe will come so I wanted to keep subject matter light and uplifting
the first thing I thought of was discuss the parable of Jesus
any other suggestions would be helpful

why do they try to make money off of appearences and books and tapes? Jesus never did anything for monetary gain. One of the most popular ministers ask for $10,000 to come speak at a nearby retreat I go to here in NC. That is ridiculous! Why do they charge that fee if there message is going to help someone grow in faith?

why do so many monotheistic nations argue and go to war over this issue? if group a believes in a higher power who created everything and group b believes in a higher power who created everything, should it matter what we call this higher power? isn't it likely that if there is a god both groups are worshipping the same god? and if it is the same god, why hasn't he stepped in and done something about it, not so much physically stopping the people, which would take away their free will, but just revealing himself to all these believers and saying, "hey, you all are fighting over the same god!!! please stop!!!"

In R&S we spend a lot of time trying to define the life force that animates all living things and the origen of all matter. We pretend to be some athority on the universe and try to back it up with reason. Can it be that we are all in some way worshiping our perception of reality? I think it is sort of funny.

When a read it I notice a tone. Just curious.

Also, why does it regurgitate Bible statements an exhausting number of times? "to allah belongs all that is in the earh and the heavens"......over and over.....The Bible already has established that "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth," it is implied that these things belong to him. I've notice this.

In the movie SISTER ACT (starring Whoppie Goldburg) why does the younger nun (she's really skinny, i can't remember her name) wear a diffferent kind of dress thingy than all the other nuns. Lol, I was just wondering and thinking one of you might know. Thanks.

People should be able to stand on their own merits, it is not fair that a white person with better credentials gets turned down for something because the government says we need a minority to fill this space even if they are not as qualified as the other candidates. That was written by someone in this forum...my question is WHY DO THEY ASSUME THAT THE OTHER CANDIDATE IS NOT QUALIFIED, JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE A MINORITY?

That would be like hiring a butcher to be a surgeon just for the sake of following regulations...it makes no sense!

I used to get upset over it, but I realize everyone is entitled to their views and not to take it too seriously. I still pray for them verse attack them back. How do you feel though when someone belittles your beliefs? How do you handle it?

We were having a discussion last night. I was raised catholic, not longer practice, but know a few devout catholics. One woman I know lost a leg in a car accident. To put it bluntly , it is on ice at the hospital morgue and has been for 25 years. When she dies the leg is to be buried with her. She says because it is part of the body that god gave her and she is going to heaven with all those parts. I know another catholic woman that has saved all her placenta's and umbilical cords from childbirth, honest they are in jars of famaldahide. Now , my question. If a catholic donates his eyes to science, will 'god' shun them at the pearly gates or will they be let in to walk around blind or eyeless in heaven for all eternity?

Their idea of role models are celebrity's and entertainers.

Many are holding their breath for Paris Hilton to make changes like she claim she would. And they look to celebrities for trends in politics (Rosie O'Donnell), Fashion, and economics.

Where are the Americans who think Hollywood and these joke "role models" are just fun to look at, but when you shut off your television you get back to your lives?
