I think that is a good idea. Make sure that it is okay with your company to do this or if they have any rules about it stated. Like I have seen companies that state the break room is for lunches, snacks, etc...and no other activities, meetings etc, can adjourn there. Starting of with the parables are good. You might even consider starting off with a regular book. There are some great books out there like "They Like Jesus But Not the Church," or Questions To All Your Answers," Or One of My Favorites, "Just Walk Across the Room." These are some good books to read for discussions and things.

That is fine and we all started the same way. There is always a starting point and as a starter I wish you well.May I ask whether you have in mind to gather all spiritual groups under one umbrella or you only single out the christians? If so why?Perhaps, you can pick a subject that can cut across or be acceptable to all religious groups the need for one to acquire moral and social values like honesty, truthfulness, obedience, hard work and all the virtues you can think of as against the vices. Look at the society we live in today and focus on the ills and come out with ways to correct them.
Merely reading and reciting verses in the bible or in any of the religious books will do you and your group no good.Because even the holy men and sages of old did say it loud and clear that they did not know God and that anybody who attempted knowing him or seeing His face will die.For all I know, no one can know or see God by merely reading any of the religious or scripture books let alone to organise a study group on it .The question is what is there in the religious/scripture books to study? Mankind today is a degraded sinner. What is there in any of the religious books by way of objectives and aims to reform us so as to receive God's blessing and protection ? Nothing! So no one can see God or know Him by merely reading any of the religious/scripture books written by man. May I suggest that you give to your group the accurate introduction of God - who He is , what He is , when does He come, how does He come, what He expects of we His children et al.This is the only way forward because this cuts across all religious backgrounds. Do not forget that God is not a Christian, Hindu, Buddist, Muslim, Hare Krishna, et al. So what is the religion of God? PEACE is the religion of God which is also the religion of the soul.God is the Supreme Soul and we His children are all souls and Not human bodies made up of the five elements.

First, you should start by asking your HR department if it is okay for you to start a group focused on religion at your work. Most likely it won't be a problem, because you are doing it on your own time, but you may not be able to do it in the office and may need to take it outside the building. They may also not allow recruitment during office hours, so you may not be able to ask people to join the group while you are working. By giving the HR department a heads up on what you are planning to do you those who disagree with what you are doing will have less recourse then if you start it without letting the HR department know.
You should be very careful about alienating those who do not believe, or those that do not attend, you know someone will complain if you do=)
Good luck.

You shouldn't make it an 'altar call'. You should literally make it a 'study'. Look at it as if you have never seen it before. Throw all of your bias towards it out the window and open the book to a random page and study it. If you didn't make it focus on converting people, people might get curious and want to just learn more about the religion.
Don't sugar coat it, either. Don't skim through to find the prettiest and best parts. You can't cherry pick someone into faith.

you can get an e-mailed bible verse sent to you everyday which is nice and it takes no time to read it and it has an explination. Which is a great thing to do.
or
you could do a small study of the 12 dicliples and if done once a month you would have a whole year.
my only other advice would be to talk to your pastor or preist and see what he/she has to say!
and of course never forget to pray about it!

i don't get it. why do you need to bring your religion into the workplace? seems to me work places get cliquey enough without adding religion to the mix. next thing ya know Pagans will be having Wiccan studies in the lunchroom. you okay with that? it just seems that Christians need to show off all the time. work at work. pray in church.

I think it's a bad idea, and will cause discord in your office. Look at Y/A and how this experiment has turned out, with regard to religion. Do you want your office like that? And while it may not be illegal, it most definitely feels unethical.
