There are many children that live in poverty that grow up very well. You don't need all the food that most children get just as long as its nutritious and you dont need pots of money to buy nutritious food. Simple beans on toast gives you more protein that steak. I think the damage is done when a child is impoverised buy lack of love and attention and is left to watch TV and play all these computer games and the like. There wasn't all the trouble back in the 50's and before. There wasnt 24 hour TV and high tec babysitters in the shape of some sort of box.

Some people were raised in poverty and grow up to rule the world. so it depends on the person. Some see it as a defeat others as they want a change. So I think it depends on the person. Some of the worst crooks come from rich familys that have no value except in dollars and cents.

My MIL chose to become a miser. Never bought anything unless it was on sale, even if she needed it desperately. Nor bought Christmas gifts till the Christmas Eve sale.

My own Mom was careful with cash, but now and then chose to revel in the joy of buying a luxury. She also put away gifts she was given, like new towels or new nighties "for good wear" when she might need it or for when she had company.

I grew up to love nice things, appreciate what I got, and to use things. I do eat some expensive things, and savor them.

This is not even to mention the lack of good education, nor good medical care. Many give up easily, and many will struggle to get education & care despite their youthful circumstance.
