Can I fire a question back at you?
Why wouldn't you hire an atheist babysitter?

It in all honesty depends on your religious standpoint. If you were say super christian, and did not believe in atheists then I would say no it would not be in your best interest to hire an atheist babysitter. But if you are rather open minded then i would say it could be OK. The only reason, I may not is IF i had a fear that perhaps the "babysitter" would say something around my children that would void our families standpoint.

I'm an atheist who has done quite a lot of babysitting. None of the kids seem to be any worse off for the experience and many asked for my return as I liked to have fun and play games rather than just stick them in bed or in front of the tv. It makes me laugh to see people saying no. How do you know? Do you screen your babysitters by asking them if they are atheists or what their beliefs are! I wonder how many families would be scandalized that I babysat their kids if they learned I was an atheist now.

I would hire a responsible babysitter. Her religious denomination is of no importance here. Her skills as a babysitter are what matters.

Yes. I'd probably prefer them over a religious babysitter.

If they were a good babysitter, yea.
You DO know Reagan was joking when he ask that doctor to:
"Please tell me you're a Republican"
Before he went into surgery to have the bullet removed

Of course...why not? Just because someone is an atheist doesn't mean that they are not morally sound.
Why would you ask a person what faith they are before hiring them?

Of course I would. Ones religios beliefs or lack of them has nothing to do with the way one would care for my children.
There are much greater things to worry about when hiring one to care for your young.

Preferably. Last thing I want would be to find out my kids were believing in bible crap that a babysitter taught them.
