Because from birth, with our parents, through school , the
educational hierarchy, and much of life. We are conditioned
to believe that one or two people set in place over the rest
of us, Have special knowledge, Unfortunately this system
breaks down at about 12. But we continue on seeking the
old comfort system. Add to this the monetary advantage for
the individual in charge and a certain willingness to lie to
receive it........well... We essentially pay folks to pretend to
know things that we should learn for ourselves. Laziness?

Hello,
So they should. If the authorities are at all good in their expertise they will give sound logical replies. Sometimes people are preoccupied with many other things and lack the interest or are too lazy to delve into the topic.

I do and I always have. I learned from a very young age that "authority" doesn't necessarily equal fair, or right. Teachers abusing students, police corruption, priests and other religious figures abusing woman/children.. and of course politics... LOL...it goes on and on. I definitely question all "authority."

The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear one of these "authorities" is to find out what their agenda is. Seems more and more agenda, as opposed to knowledge, drives our political parties, media, education, and most aspects of our lives.

I think when the situation warrants it, we do question it. At least those issues/events that pertain to us all. But basically, we are raised to respect authority and trust their decisions.

I think people tend to take people for face value these days, due in part to laziness... I'm guilty of that from time to time!
