Nobody knows the exact date or time of year Jesus was born. With shepherds and their flocks out at night Idoubt if it were winter. Dec 25 is as good as any day to celebrate Jesus Birth and there is at least 1700 years of celebrating it on Dec 25( on Julian or Gregorian Calendars).
Jesus was born before Herod died which was about 6 to 4 BC

Looks like you have received the correct answer from several people. Let's put them all together. Jesus' actual birthday is not stated in the Bible. Not enough info is given to figure it out. Most scholars agree that AD4 was the year of His birth although some believe it may have been as late as AD7. With shepherds in the field, spring is more the likely time of year, not winter. His birth was celebrated on different days for many years. December 25 was the pagan holiday to worship the SUN. It was better to worhip the SON so the Catholic church began celebrating on that day. Almost everyone else began doing the same in the years to follow. A few groups still celebrate at times other than Dec.25.

No is does not say. The saints never celebrated their birthdays.
I recently searched this myself on the internet, back around Christmas.
I don't remember the web sites where I found the information but a lot of them pointed to the same thing. What I do remember is the most believed he was born in September.
What we have to go by is the birth of John the Baptist. His father Zacharias was performing the office of the priest. This was done twice a year. This is when an angel told him told him that John would be conceived. The time of performing this duty was in the spring and in the fall.
The Bible tells us that John was 6 months older than Jesus. So this means Jesus was born 6 months later from either the spring or the fall.
Another thing we have to go by the time of year was the shepherds where out in the field with their sheep when the angels appeared to them and told them about the birth of Jesus. History tells us that the shepherds done this from spring till fall. Because the winter they brought their flocks into the stables. Jesus could not have been born in December because of this.
December 25 use to be the shortest day of the year. The sun worshipers considered this to be the birth of the "sun". This goes back to ancient Babylon. The Catholic Church had used the same day as the sun worshiping pagans and claimed it to be the birth of the "son".

Of course it's an estimate at this point, and I don't understand everyone's logic. The current calendar we use was reformed by Pope Gregory in 1582, which means that when Jesus was born they were using a completely different calendar. Christmas, Dec. 25, is the day that was chosen to celebrate Christ's birth. It's the same way with MLK day in January and President's Day in February when we celebrate the birthday's of Martin Luther King, Jr., George Washington, and Abe Lincoln always on a Monday so average white-collar workers can have a three-day weekend.

As you can tell by all the answers on here nobody knows exactly (except people who are long dead).
Some theories say that He would have been conceived during December and born in the fall. If you follow the Biblical feasts He would have been conceived during Hanukkah (The light of the world conceived during the festival of lights?) and born around Succot/Booths (Tabernacles -- God dwelling with us in human form). In this way He would have fulfilled those feasts as well - and yes Jesus was a good Jewish man and would have observed the feasts(there are evidences in the Bible). This also would follow Elizabeth's pregnancy - the Bible DOES state that John lept in her womb. The Shepard's would still have been in the fields just getting close to coming home for the winter.
All that being said, it really is not the point. The point is that He came and humbled Himself to dwell with us before death on the cross which we KNOW was at Passover.
Both Easter and Christmas are christianizations of pagan holidays - the Church (Catholicism at that time) tryin to draw the crowds away from the pagan revelry. Christmas as we now celebrate it wasn't even celebrated in America until the 1800's and came from Germany, Prince Albert of England was instrumental in bringing the German celebration to England. The Puritans did not celebrate Christmas as we do. (PBS had a very good program on this a few years back).

It was estimated, according to the bible that Jesus was born in late march or early April.
But in the days when the people were converting from Egyptology to Christianity, the emperors did not want too much confusion among the people and decided to keep some older traditions.
December 25, was the time of Winter solstice. On the 22nd, the sun moves southwards (toward hell- they used to say), then on the 25th, moved north or upward again (hence the resurrection of the sun), and so they just decided to used this date because of the symbology, and because it was already a festival day at that time.

Exact is unkown. Many tend to feel it was in the springtime, because that's when taxes are often levied. The year varies from 6 BC to 6 AD as to when he was born.
Probably the first records kept were accounting records for the collection of taxes, but they just were tallies. Then comes debt and loan records. Those were only kept by the money lenders on those whom they lent money too. We can assume this issue was true based on the Magna Carta, which basically had to do with the forgiveness of debt by the land Barrons and Royals. Money lending issues occupy a vast amount of the Maga Carta's petitioning.
General records were not kept until more modern times. Probably the first records were land records and high education records.
By the 19th Century birth and death records started being kept on a regular basis.
Right up to this day a lot of people, both Atheist and Theist, Liberal and Conservative, have issues with the extensive paper trail that is kept on everyone.

I think in Pfeiffer's book, Christianity Through The Centuries, he refers to the year as something like 4 B.C.
Since we know also that Caesar had sent an order concerning a population census, there is also a record somewhere(I can't recall where!) verifying the year.
In the Bible, we are told the shepherds were in the fields, so we can most likely say Spring or Summer.
My honest guess is that it has been buried in the Bible somewhere, and no one had ever found it.
There are some maniacs( Thank God for them!) that tear apart things in scripture, analyze the living daylights out of it and discover the hidden gems of knowledge. Things that prove just how incredibly perfect and accurate the Bible really is. I haven't heard of any of them nailing this one down though.

That is a man-made convention. It says the shepherds were yet turning their flocks out, which is an indication that it was around the end of October or early November when Christ was born. After the first week of November the shepherds no longer turned their flocks out to pasture.
Nimrod was born on the 25th of whatever the name is for December in Hebrew.

The Bible does not say what day Christ grow to be born on. It Eludes to Him being born sometime in Sept. or Early Oct.. The Catholic church grow to be corrupted by utilizing simon the sourcer who suggested as himself Peter (not the real Peter) and went to Rome. Simon the Sourcer grow to be a preacher of Babylon secret faith. He mixed the secret faith with Christianity. the real Christianity has survived yet been persecuted each and each of how by utilizing the Catholics. the reason a lot of gods the place born on Dec. 25 grow to be because of the fact Dec. 25 grow to be Nimrods birthday and maximum religions are tied to him.
