The only thing to eat is tofu.

The only things on television are reruns of 'Who's the Boss?' and 'Bosom Buddies' (a godawful Tom Hanks sitcom--look it up).

The only movie available is 'Plan 9 From Outer Space,' which (trust me) loses its kitsch value after the tenth viewing. Maybe 'Manos: The Hands of Fate' (non-MST version).

The only books available are 'The Celestine Prophecy' and the works of Paulo Coehlo.

Hell has internet access, but only via AOL. All computers run Windows 95. (Remember that one, kids?)

The old joke goes that you can tell you're in heaven or hell by looking at the professionals.

In heaven, all the cops are British, all the engineers are German, all the cooks are French, all the lovers are Italian, and everything is run by the Swiss.

In hell, all the cops are German, all the engineers are French, all the cooks are British, all the lovers are Swiss, and everything is run by the Italians.

For some people this life on Earth can be hell. The loss of a loved one or child, living in an oppressed or dictator society, going through the atrocities of war. Growing up in a dangerous neighborhood or in gangs, or being the victim of some horrendous crime can make life seem like hell.

For other people life on Earth can be paradise. Sometimes smart choice or hard work gets you there. Sometimes being born in the right place at the right time, or being fortunate enough to be "discovered" can throw you into the lap of luxury. Sometimes having a loving family and a good living is all it takes.

Hell is one of those subjects that makes people uncomfortable. We hear stories of hell being a place of fire, demons, and endless torment. Throughout history many authors have written about it, Dante's Inferno for example. Western culture is very familiar with the concept. Even Hollywood has made it the subject of many movies. Whatever the context, whatever the belief, hell is definitely taught in the Bible. But even the doctrine of hell is not without its controversy. Some say it is only the grave with no consciousness. Others say it is a place of correction and punishment that is not eternal. Others say it is an endless agonizing punishment in fire. Whichever it is, hell is the total absence of the favor of God.

When we cross over, we must watch and feel our entire time here on earth. We get to feel the pain we have caused others, and the pain that created for those who love that person in pain, and so on like ripples in a lake. Now, take all that pain, can you really think of a worse hell? Think of Hitler...now there's some mighty pain. Also it's a lesson in what your actions can cause. It's not just a useless lesson in pain. It teaches. Think of the mass murderers and the special pain they cause to so many. What about the mass rapists...etc. Now that's Hell! btw I didn't dream this up...I believe it.

Blessed Be

I love Penguin's answer.
Besides living with Richard, I'd imagine Hell to be like Dante
described it.

With levels of punishment. There's about as many as the deadly sins, the not-so-bad ones at the top, and the morally-horribly-horrible one/s at the bottom. The last level, I believe Dante described "perfectly". He said it was frozen over with ice, where Satan himself resides (if I am correct), and you hang upside down with him for the rest of eternity (that is, if your a Christian, until Jesus comes and decides, "Hey, let's bring you to Heaven because I think you've changed". You know... he judges the living and the dead, so he might take some refugees, who knows).

My husband and I are considering a re-write of Dante's Inferno, with our own version of each level. My version of Hell is much too complicated to recount here.

This won't seem very creative but it is what i believe Heven is position close to God whereas hell is distant from God. It is not so much place but position. Based on your decission here. You get what you ask for.

Worms, and snakes eating out our your dead rotting body while you continue to burn for eternity. Also, The Teletubbies will tickle you and poke you while they jump up and down and sing, accompanied along with that Chinese man who sings "She Bangs, She Bangs". All of this is happening in pure darkness.

God Bless
