Dinner, and maybe a movie.

Having spent two magical evenings watching Stargaze and Stargaze II (DVDs of photographs taken by the Hubble telescope of deep space), I find it hard to believe that distant galaxies and nebulae we cannot even see with the naked eye were created as nightlights for the human race.

The problem (as I see it) is not what evidence can be produced in favour of the god of the bible, but rather the overwhelming evidence against it, if the bible is to be taken literally.

The fossil evidence really does not gel well with the concept of Noah's ark, nor with the alleged seven days of creation. The concept that we are all descended from a MAN called Adam and a WOMAN called Eve is impossible to accept.

I would need reasonable, rational evidence that correlates with the evidence of Earth's history (rather than stories that contradict it) for anyone to make a believer of me.

well, I've never read the bible or plan to any time soon, so i can only assume what the god in the bible you are referring to. But from what i understand the bible says God created the world (rather than creationism) and that many of the stories such as Noah's ark just seem more like children's fair tales and that any intelligent person would dismiss them. For me to believe i would have to have proof, (coming up to me and saying here i am, might do the trick, but other wise i will continue to laugh at gullible Christians.

By "believe in" I am going to assume you mean worship?

Nothing short of a full frontal lobotomy, sorry. You will *never* get me to bow down and worship him.

One should envision one's Gods as being at least as good as the best human beings. The best of us would not damn people for eternity for an honest difference of opinion or because they liked to drink beer and get laid. The best of us would not set up eternal torment at all. Your God is less worthy than the best of his admittedly very imperfect human creations. I refuse to worship him on moral grounds!

If you ever managed to convince me that Yahweh is running things, I would become a maltheist in a New York minute. I hope that I don't live in a universe where the moral high ground is maltheism, but if that should prove be the case, I know where my loyalties would lie. I would fight against your deity with every fiber of my being to rid the world of his malevolence.

My mother died of lung cancer in 2004. She is now ashes, spread across a very large space. If your god brings her back to me exactly the way she was, I'll believe. What do you think the likelihood of that happening is?

See everything else can simply be superior technology, alien races, or other more likely things, including my imagination.

And I did much better than just asking him to reveal himself to me when I was a child. I dared god to show himself, because he'd win a convert. I dared the devil to show himself because he'd gain my soul. Guess what happened..... NOTHING!

I could never believe in that hateful monster.

Just look at the god you worship. He murdered how many people? From the unborn to the very old.

Then you add the rules that make no sense. Believe in me or die!!!! What, he needs his ego stroked? That is not very deity like. A perfect supreme being is not egotistical or jealous.

Supposedly he puts Adam and Eve in a garden and gets mad when they gain KNOWLEDGE!!! Duh, what is that all about? It is ludicrous.

I see so much hate and bigotry thrown around here day after day. This person will go to 'hell' for this, or that person is going to 'hell' for that. No wonder. You worship a hate filled monster you become the evil monster like him.

No, God is the creator of my soul. There are many roads to God and He does not care which road you take. Take your biblical god away from me. Paulianity is not for me.

The god of the Bible? A major re-write would help to get rid of the contradictions and absurdities.

Redefinition of God so that he is not all-powerful AND all-knowing AND all-loving. This is in direct contradiction to the state of the world.

A miracle cure of an amputee would be a good one too.

My donkey says to Jean Marie:

Jesus told a parable about Lazarus and the rich man, then puncuated it with: Because you do not believe Moses and the Prophets, you would not believe if someone returned from Hades."

A fact: Jesus did return from the dead, and they persecuted His followers, condemning them to death.

So you see, JeanMarie, it is impossible for those who cherish sin and error to be enlightened, unless they humble their hearts like little children. If they hunger and thirst after righteousness, they will be filled.

Of the Bible code, the prophecy says: "The wicked will do wicked and none of the wicked will understand; but the wise shall understand.

If you can understand the "code" at http://abiblecode.tripod.com, you will know you are accounted with the wise.

Thus said Burrito, my donkey.

Blessings, Balaam

What purpose will that serve?

Oh yeah.... God.
Because the God in the Bible wants people to serve God and Only God and not Humans to make this place better for Humans, but Only for God's amusement.

I was once of this group of people wondering if there was a God or not. All it took for me to believe was reading the Bible and forming questions about why Jesus died on the cross. Than I visited a church and heard a message that answered those questions, it was than that I knew it was true and I didn't have to search for what I believed any more.

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13

That's how I got my answer, I searched for it with all my heart.

Why must I believe in a book that is out of date in order to believe there is a God? The bible says that I can sell my daughter into slavery and stone my neighbor if he doesn't go to church. Anyone that blindly follows the bible needs a reality check.
